I just read through 6 pages so far and no one has even mentioned that we had the ball for the last shot of regulation tied and did not get a shot up due to DG being out of control. He really should not have the ball at the end of close games!

I understand what you're saying but I still can't get past how we even got to that point. That, and the fact that Diante played a monster game and we lose by 15 pts without him.
How do u lose when you're up 4 with 40 seconds left AND you have the ball? After the Neb game why was Ejim even allowed to touch the ball then? If u want to fault anyone fault the 4 upper classmen on the floor that put a freshman in that situation when he clearly has jagged nerves.

Re: Okla. State***Official: Iowa State @ postgame thread***

I'm an official and most of you know I'll back them 9 times out of 10, but that crew was pathetic tonight. As you said, it went both ways. I think if I was Travis Ford I'd have gotten T'd up in the first half. I commend him for keeping his cool.

Tell me if I have this wrong, but the view I saw I thought Ejim's T was BS as well. They got tangled but he didn't throw the elbow, did he? It looked to me like the OSU player made the violent move by swinging his arms down.

It was hard to tell what happened exactly. The guy from OSU made a move with his arm across the front of Ejim's torso that looked like he was giving him a little business in the stomach/chest. The way Ejim reacted it almost seemed like the guy pinched him hard (titty twister perhaps?). Ejim's reaction was more of a flinch than an actual elbow. If Melvin wanted to lay that guy out with an elbow, he could have easily. His reaction to whatever happened was actually pretty restrained IMO. Of course, it's the second guy that always gets called for stupid crap like that.

Second guy gets caught every time. Whether it was just a reaction or intentional he got caught swinging his elbow. I don't agree with the it but it had to be called.

I guess I'm lost as to what "swinging your elbow" really is. I played with a few guys that would have had Mr. Brown getting fitted for an upper plate, this morning.

While I hated the loss, and think it was a game we should have won, another part of me is so thankful that I even have those feelings this year for this team. Instead of seeing apathy and comedy of the past few years, the team provides heart and in this case heartbreak. That is significant progress, but we see that at the end of games there is still a lot of work to do.

I think the players are gassed at the end of games......so when it is a close game, or a game they need to close out.....they don't seem to have anything left. About the only exception to this would have been the Creighton game, but if you look back at that game, the lead was lost near the end of it too.

I just think they are tired.......which makes it harder to understand why McKnight and Railey don't get at least a few minutes in there to give the others at least a little more rest. Railey may be in the doghouse, and McKnight needs a lot of development, but ISU recruited them right? I just don't think you can comment about a short bench or lack of depth if you are not using some who may contribute something, as little as it may be.

I love that this team has been able to be in virtually every game this year.....but it is really frustrating that they could not close win games like this one and Nebraska especially. To me, what is most disappointing about the inability to close out games is that you have 3 seniors and a junior in the lineup. That should be enough experience to get it done.

i think we will all be proud of what our team has accomplished at the end of the season, but I think we will be kicking ourselves as it could be a season of missed opportunities...

This team is so exciting to watch. They are playing out of their ***** most every game lately.

When the shots stop falling we are gonna see what the year COULD have been like without some of these amazing shooting games.

Congrats to Fred for getting the max out of this team. Never in a million years would I think we would be this good. He has turned DG into a machine. His progress with JVB is unreal.

Very excited for the future.

Just saw the highlights come on and turned off my TV. Can't even stand to watch it.
You're lucky. I did watch highlights right before going to bed and could not sleep. So close to 3-1 instead of 1-3. Too many of those nights during hawk football.

I think Mr. Morris of KU showed quite well the definition of swinging an elbow. Of course, JVB dodged it in ninja-like fashion, so I guess that's not a foul.

I blame Fred Hoiberg for getting so much out of these guys and raising my hopes each and every week. Without the excellence he's been instilling, these losses would probably be easier to take.

I would also like to blame Diante Garrett for getting our team into a position to win that game last night. Blame also for JVB for making that bevy of threes. If those guys don't do those things, we talk about getting destroyed instead of blowing a game that we did have almost wrapped up.

So I have plenty of blame to pass around.
