This would a first for a Steve Prohm coached team, his teams are soft. It's been about 4 years since one of his teams took a punch and did anything but fold.

That 16-17 team found some real 'grit' in February that hadn't been there for a long time...was thinking that was a sign of things to come but not so sure going forward.

Of course they badly want to win it. Whether their best effort makes any difference is the question.

Revenge? Only 3 guys playing in this game were on the team last year.
OK, yes - then just give their "best effort." They shouldn't need revenge anyway. And players being "from Iowa" or not has nothing to do with it.

That was the last real evidence of it but those weren't kids he brought here....I had some hope after the big 12 tourney run in '19 but that was short lived. They crumbled shortly after.

Last year Iowa won 84-68 and shot only 43% from the field. We shot 42% from the field in the loss.

I suspect we see 92-70 type of score tonight. I think we will be down by double digits by the 8 minute TO in the first half and it will 15-20 by halftime.
Would love to see things click but I think this is going to be another statement game for Iowa and Fran.

If we lose by more than 10, make Prohm walk home. This iowa team doesn’t play a lick of defense, has no home court advantage with no fans, and in general, we have better athletes. Put a hand in their shooters face and double Garza.

You don't just play on historic mediacom court and expect to walk out with a win.

If you double Garza, the refs may just call a double foul. Both on ISU. It's impossible to play defense against him with the way they call fouls.

Yeah, but didn't they shoot some ridiculous percentage in the first half? I don't remember a lot of misses, and everybody was shooting/hitting 3's.

I am not a fan of Fran, wouldn't want my kids to play for him.

However, I can respect the guy.

He managed to find a HM school to make him rich, and coach his kids at the same time.

He's found a strategy of red-shirting unathletic shooters, grabbing in-state players who are lifelong hawks, and developing the under the radar kid into a legit player (aaron white, luka garza).

His team can shoot, and they play hard, play together.

And what CW said in his podcast is so true...Iowa players HATE us, which is what a rivalry is all about.

Not going to be pretty for the soft-clones tonight!
