Offensively Guys Like KENE, Montgomery and Deshante are talent we have not had in a while outside of Lazard. Park is progressing well. This experience will be huge for next year. First time we've had a Qb in a while IMO that when he goes back to pass I'm not cringing. Now if we can find couple good LB's and improve the Dline we might be fine next year.
Don't forget oline

WHat is this? Big Deal?
It's pretty much a very laidback practice. I think it depends on the school and coaches how they run it. Normally it is done at the visiting team's stadium, high school stadium, or even a parking lot like Michigan did last year.

They line up and run some plays. There isn't any tackling, its more just to wake up and get use to playing in a different stadium.

Bizarre situation:

So there was a play early in the 3rd quarter, Kansas on Offense. Their new QB is nearly tackled and then flips the ball to a receiver who gains about 5 yards. . .

Immediately after this, Kansas gets up to the line quickly -- we sub in about 3-4 new guys who are casually jogging in and get caught off guard when the ball is quickly snapped. One of our guys is very close to offsides (may have been); the officials stop the play but don't explain why and don't enforce any penalty -- almost like, "OK, that was weird . . . do-over!" If I was Kansas, I would have been peeved royally.

Does anybody have any idea what actually happened on that play/non-play?

The announcers never said anything about it or explained what happened. It also seemed like something happened similar in the Oklahoma game where the Sooners subbed in their offensive players, which the refs allowed ISU to sub in some defense players but the ISU players subbed in by waves. If I remember correctly, the play clock hit zero but Oklahoma couldn't snap the ball due to ISU substituting players so they called a timeout instead of getting a delay of game penalty. However, I don't think Oklahoma was actually charged with a timeout.

So at the beginning of the second half, some guy in a Nebraska sweatshirt and what looked young enough to be his daughter, wearing a Kansas shirt, moved into an area most occupied by Cyclone fans. Think this was a Tuco sighting?

Yep. We were fine, Kansas had substituted, so they had to allow us to as well.

Just wondering if Wiltz could have been called for shoving the KU receiver out of bounds (vs. the discussion of Wiltz going out of bounds and coming back for the ball).

Sorry if this has already been discussed, but was that great play by Wiltz at the end of the game legal? Just wondering if he could have been called for shoving the KU receiver out of bounds.
If I'm correct there isn't illegal contact between DBs and WRs in college football when they are close to the line of scrimmage .

I think Wiltz was in the clear because running him off in the first few yards is allowed as long as he isn't holding. I think Wiltz ran into him and the receiver wasn't expecting it, got bumped and fell over.

Again that's just a guess because it could've been the refs just missed it. The refs were pretty awful missing big calls on both teams.

Tuco, like 95% of his Beaker brethren, don't acknowledge that their institution has a football program. 0% chance it was him.

The announcers threw me off then because they specifically said Kansas did not substitute (they were probably wrong).

I had the benefit of sitting by my brother, a football coach who literally misses nothing. He was disturbed when Park kneeled so fast on first down at the end of the game because we needed to burn a few seconds, but they fixed that on the next kneeldown.
