My hot take is that if Bolton can learn to make better decisions next year Jackson will be the most improved player from the open shots that Bolton can create.

It's extremely rare for a guy who is not a natural point guard to all of a sudden become one.

Again, for next season we are banking on a LOT of low probability events to all happen at once.

You're right. Players are SUPPOSED to develop and make progress, but we have a couple examples on the team that indicate that isn't always the case. I won't name names, but anyone watching knows who I'm talking about

I hope you're right but these same things were said about Donovan Jackson, about how Prohm is the PG guru and would develop him in to his next great PG. Prohm is good with PG's but he's not a miracle worker, he can't just make someone be a PG. They have to have a the right skill and mind set (see NWB). I'm not sure we have that right combo on the roster right now. My hot take would be that the PG is either Johnson (we've heard rumblings) or someone not in the program right now. IMO finding that guy is would be a big step forward and allow Bolton to just focus on scoring, not to mention, create space for TJ.

How the f*** did that same TCU team we beat the other night beat Baylor today? College basketball is a fickle mfer

Because Baylor hadn't really screwed up all season so, since they are Baylor, yesterday was prime for the pickin'.

They may have dropped one to Tech or WV this week anyway, but letting TCU be the team to likely keep them from having at least a share of the regular season title is pretty much on par.

I suppose KU could lose at Tech but Tech isn't very reliable in that setting.

Baylor did itself no favors by failing to complete the sweep of KU. That would've given a 1-game cushion for a loss (to anyone) and still be 1 game ahead; or 2 losses and you could still share the title.

Okay Chump, I now remember the Conference Season of 1984-85, When Orr Won seven home games and lost seven road games.....They only played 14 games and logic would dictate that if you lose 7 on the road... you win 7 at home... but you are so F'ing Stupid you won't realize that.....

Sigh. This is bad even for you.

His only win at Kansas was that year, and they lost to waymon Tisdale in Hilton.

That's not what I'm saying at all. I'm saying the guy is not a natural point guard. I think that kind of player is recruited, not developed. The best coach on the planet couldn't make him a past first distributor. The same with other great players like Steve Francis or Stephon Marbury. And yes, by those names, you can tell I'm old.

We played alright but Okie St made some nice adjustments from watching the TCU game. I think they did a really good job with not letting Jackson or Grill be much of a factor, which seems odd to say won the game but those are kind of our X factors. Seemed like TJ wasn't able to get any space and they exposed Grill defensively. Playing on the road is tough for freshman and it's especially tough when you're matched up with veteran guys and a focal point of the opposing team's gameplan. Grill had an into the fire learning experience trying to check McGriff, you could tell they liked that matchup, they went to it the first two possessions he was in the game. That was a tough ask of Grill but like Dan Hawkins said, this ain't intramurals. That's just life in the big 12 for a freshman.

Johnny had one season...He lost every road game but won every home game...Johnny had a big advantage over csp...Johnny never lost by 30 points inside Hilton Coliseum.....
Apparently "every" never happened, but it was a definite pattern (moreso than other programs).

Floyd was hired in part to coach defense.

In Floyd's second year (his first was with Hoiberg etc.) -- preseason -- ISU was picked to finish last in the Big 8. The Cyclones instead finished 2nd -- including Ws in games at Colorado, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Missouri. And ISU won over Kansas, 56-55, in the finals of the conference tournament.

1996-schedule.html

I remember listening to a couple of games on the radio that year. It was more like listening to a football game where a lead of just a few points might not change much, and was a pretty solid lead.

Not according to Wikipedia .....In 1984-85 our conf record was 7wins and 7 Losses....
What year then did ISU lose every Big 8 away game and win every Big 8 home game?

Like you, I believed there was one year, before I saw the comment above that you were both wrong (why I put “apparently”). Here is the 1984-85 season from that site linked above, which is easy to navigate to other years.
