Can’t believe I’m going to say this but Fran gave a pretty good post game presser….. Bluder could learn a lot from watching it.

Gave ISU plenty of credit, said his team played well at times, but really couldn’t sustain it mostly because of ISU’s pressure defense.

No lame excuses at all like Bluder’s entire presser was full of.

I’m thrilled we won and all but ca
Part of the problem is just how good the Big 12 is. We just caught the middle teams now in Kenpom. West Virginia is 48 and 7th. Plus still early in the year so will stabilize/work itself here as we get closer to conference play.

Kenpom is useless for a team like Iowa State because last years data is still heavily weighted. Kenpom can't properly evaluate a team with such a massive swing so i would ignore their rankings until we are about half way through conference play.,

Watched the game at Diamond Jo Casino sportsbook. Took full advantage of that nutty spread!
Vegas'll have it figured out from here on out. These guys are for real. Brock'ton - amazing. TH - amazing frosh play. Kunc and Grill - so smart, make plays. Condit - he'll never forget this night. Gabe - all around solid. Some solid minutes from Trey and Jones. Coach TJ is amazing. No one on the planet saw 9-0, or 12-0. Crazy. So much fun. Maybe the 2 best consecutive nights in Hilton history. Right ahead of Phil Collins and Lionel Richie back in '83 or was it '84. he he

I just keep thinking one of these ugly offensive stretches is going to doom us, but we're not just winning these games. We are, for the most part, dominating. We're unkillable.

The beauty of really tough defense is that teams rarely score on consecutive trips. Iowa State isn't immune to a team going on a run but it won't be easy.

Spreads will be interesting for this team going forward. With every game seeming like a different player steps up, I can see where lines will remain low as there won't be the confidence in the offense. I do believe that Vegas will be correcting the O/U lines though.

He looks and plays like he belongs in a 40 and up league at the local YMCA. He may need to hang it up before the end of the season. Not that he's ever been any good, but this year he seriously looks out of place when he's on the court.
He looks like he's gained ten pounds, soft and out of shape. His body looks like it has aged ten years recently. I guess when all you work on are entry passes to Garza over the last two years you have a tendency to let yourself go. Needs to hit the weight room and more agility drills, but when you're entitled, you get complacent. He now has a baseball body and should probably stick to that.

Need some more p90x mirror photos to get back at it!

I'm guessing Brockington can squat 450 to 500 pounds. He just explodes off the floor. Quick too.

Dare I say this, and I can't believe I am. Could we have a College "Ames" Day in basketball this season?
Has any school had College Game Day visit for football and basketball in the same school year?

Reading some threads now. So fun how many of them bought into the irrationally stupid 5.5 point favorite line or that our KenPom is low because it's still based on last year that was a completely different team.

You'd think they won the game just because of a bad point spread and last year's Kenpom rating.
There was so much fools gold in that "close" loss to Purdue. There is nothing more overrated in sports that a team getting stomped, then making a late charge to make it close. It is nearly meaningless, yet people act like it is a useful indicator. The other factor is everyone was buying that Purdue was not just the best team in the country, but they were clearly the best team. That's a really good Purdue team. And Iowa fighting back was impressive, but in the end it's just another backdoor cover that doesn't really mean much.

This is not a bad Iowa team, but it's sort of the most extreme Fran team ever, where it's mostly just a bunch of OK players, and no clear cut roles and rotations. Murray is a very good player, but ISU's defense was absolutely dominant.

I've been on the "this team plays as hard as any on defense since Floyd's teams," but I was wrong. This team plays harder. Favorite sequence of the night was late in the game, and Iowa has the ball. There's a loose ball at the top of the key, and Hunter full on superman dives for it going toward half court but Iowa retains possession. Immediately there is another loose ball and Hunter comes back and dives again to get a jump ball (IIRC).

5 star culture play right there.

I have my doubts that they’ll do this on NYD with football, but if we’re undefeated that Baylor game could get a good amount of hype.
