I'm amazed at how many people think that the head coach plays no role in execution.

I won't blame the coach if a couple of games a year, are sloppy and the players don't execute, but when you consistently play poorly and forget to execute the basics, it falls on the coach, IMO.

One thing about McD's teams that I never could understand: His teams have always relied on the guard being able to light it up from downtown. At ISU McD has seldom had a guard who could do this with any regularity.
In basketball, it makes more sense to go with the formula that gives you the greater number of high percentage shots. So relying on the guard having a good shooting day from downtown has never been a logical choice. Yeah, there are going to be days when some guards will be able to turn on that switch with 4:00 or so left in the game and save your butt. But in my book, when your only down by 10, why not look to the inside game to give you the basket and when possible the 'and 1'? Leave the three point theatrics for the last minute. I think there were a number of times today when we shot the three and KSU rebounded, went down and made a 2 or 3 for themselves.

So it is the ill-logic that McD has always relied on which makes me wonder if he is fit to be a division 1 coach. Let him go back to coaching the UNI's of the world, where they can get those undersized gym rats who can do nothing but make threes from downtown. A Big 12 team needs guards who can do so much more.

Time to call an end to the experiment.

You do realize though that mizzou has the second longest winning streak at home...

You do realize I dont care. What matter is the score after the final buzzer. Im not claiming a win, but Im not ready for a loss either.

What are we talking about again?

How we have very little chance of winning more than 1 remaining game and how even that 1 game would be considered by many to be very loseable.

Didnt we keep close today when tons claimed a blowout? This teams inconsistencies are frustrating, but they also make for different outcomes than folks expect. Im not ready to write them off as losses.
