Looks like they return most of their players from that team that almost completed a surprise NCAA tourney run in the Horizon tournament. It's probably going to be a battle.

Also, they have a new coach this year because their coach moved up to Butler. Strange to see a coach of an 11-24 team move up like that.

Good warm up game before going on the road for the tourney.
Things I'll be looking for:
1: NWB become the primary PG. He finished second half strong as the distributor. Could help D-Jax get more opportunities to spot up shoot.
2: Lewis and Long, outside shooting. Pretty appearent this is a weakness of the team, if one or both could add that threat they would become the 6 man.
3. Team Defense improvement. I felt individually the player were able to defend Missou's players pretty well Friday but, rotations and closing lanes left a lot to be desired. I am pretty sure Prohm's first priority will be to clean that up. It will be helped in the future getting Brase and Lard on the court.

Agree on all of that. Yeah, one on one defense seemed fine. Help defense was pretty terrible, particularly in late rotations getting burned on the backside.

I know it is very very early to be deciding who should play and who should not, but I thought Talley looked a lot better than Beverly Friday. I have to wonder what the rotation will look like once Lard and Brase are able to play..

Yeah, I think Talley is better than Beverly and that is why he played more minutes. I think once fully healthy and in game shape, Brase will be the starter along side Young though.

That is what I am hoping for as well. I think Talley will continue to be our 6th man, but will play close to "starter" minutes.

Also, I think we will look a lot different with the addition of Lard and Brase. Adding two 6'9 players into the rotation is huge.

Beverly will be handy when we have to guard a strong 4 as he can mix it up. Maybe not quick/athletic enough to stay with the quick leaping guys. Prohm seems to like his ability from 3 on offense, and the first impression I got on Talley is that he probably should drive it or take the medium range shot as opposed to the 3.

Based on a small sample size I see Beverly’s minutes declining.

Right now he’s probably the weakest link in current starters.

We need more of a post presence on both ends and he doesn’t give you that.

If he can get his shot going I can see him getting time at the 3 down the road though.

Hey guys, first post here, although I’ve been on these boards plenty in the past. I just figured it was time to get my own thoughts out there as well.

Friday night wasn’t exactly a fun game to watch, but it mostly what I expected. I’m excited to watch these guys continue to develop, understand roles, etc. each game and I do think we’ll see a bit of that tonight. Would be nice to have Lard and Brase playing tonight, but I think they’ll be able to pull out the W and show some signs of improvement from Friday which is really all I’m looking for each game at this point in the season.

You mean like Missouri? He was overmatched against guys with size.

Unless Beverly can suddenly find an outside shot he’s a smaller Holden

Of course Missouri, that was my point. Prohm seems to see him as a 3 point threat, so I'm assuming that he'll have some game out there. At any rate, looks like a utility player that will help in situations (probably those that don't involve trying to guard or rebound against a bunch of 6'10 dudes).

Really hoping to see some improvement from the team. I am curious as to who they will have running the point. It seemed Babb was best at getting people the ball. There were several times Young should have gotten the ball off of PnR situations and they didn't throw him the ball. Just want to see more cohesion on offense and defense.
Nothing new about passing up Solo streaking to the basket for easy points though.. happened all of last year too.

He was handy against MU? Oh, so you’re saying he’ll never be handy. I agree.

He’s too small and not athletic enough to be handy against most teams, particularly “when we have to guard a strong 4”. Unless he rather unexpectedly develops an outside shot, once Brase and Lard get back I don’t see him being handy outside of burning some foul trouble minutes against other teams with no post presence. He must be a very streaky shooter, and his other play doesn’t really justify getting minutes or shots to find out if it’s one of the rare days he’s on.

By this "Maybe not quick/athletic enough to stay with the quick leaping guys." I meant teams like Missouri. Clearly, not everyone on our schedule is going to be stacked with 6'10 guys that are athletic and can jump. So yes, he will be handy situationally, when we don't have to put him up against guys like that.

By the way, Beverly was 3-3 from three in the Nebraska scrimmage, so from a scrimmage, exhibition and game he's 3-8. Too early to tell, but Prohm has mentioned him as a three point threat, so I'll take his word for it.

I don’t want to jump to conclusions, but I just saw Solomon Young on campus with a boot on his foot
