Not only did Montgomery tear it up while he was in there, but it was borderline embarrassing how much the commentators gushed about him the ENTIRE game. They barely talked about anybody else. I was loving every minute of it.

Good built-in pub for ISU too.

TD Lazard, TD Butler that has to be a first for Cyclone Pro players in preseason on opening day. Any Butler Highlight links out there?

Butler had a TD or do you mean Montgomery?

Anything out there for video of his playing time?

Who is more fun to watch - Montgomery or Troy Davis?

No kidding. I was telling my brother that last night. I grew up in a house where he loved the Bears while I cheered for the Vikings. Now, with DM in Chicago, it's going to be hard for me to not support them.
I never had any problem rooting for Walter Payton, but not the Bears. I think I’m good now.

one of my co-workers who's a TOE fan and a packers fan was impressed by Lazards td catch last night. and brought up Montgomery's TD run too being the packers would face them in the season.

Montgomery is a stud and will get a lot of playing time IMO.

Hakeem is a freak athlete, but until he can get his drops figured out, I'm not sure how much he'll see the field this season. It definitely is an issue for him.

I'm a Packers fan, and I feel the same way about their WR J'Mon Moore. He has all the tools and is a great athlete, but man he has trouble with the drops big time. If you have trouble catching the football, you just aren't going to see the field a lot in the NFL.

Good angle of Montgomery TD run:

How many times did we see this exact play the last two seasons? It was almost as if our best running play was to have the OL get in the way long enough to let DM bounce it to the outside when the defense overcommitted. He does so many subtle things, and it's awesome to see him repeat it against this competition. He's really good at running directly away from a pursuing defender to mitigate the angle and keep the defender off his feet and ankles. As soon as he clears that angle, he turns it up field. I love that even as he scores here, he made the last two guys miss horribly. He was set to take it farther.

To me he looked simply natural out there. Understandably so you'd expect a rookie RB to get out there and have happy feet but he was playing 'forward' and in time from what I saw.

And this thread isn't about him and he's had a year but Lazard also looked very comfortable in his timing. I think the Packers are really looking for consistent receivers so hopefully he sticks as the opportunity is there.
