i think the x factor today is monte morris. monte has been shooting very good in the last couple game, his passing is really good and i think he can lock down marcus paige. If paige isnt scoring tar heels dont win

I agree - I think most of the year he has held back on his scoring because he's been playing the role of assist man to the top 3. Now that one of the top 3 is gone and he's been actually scoring the last handful of games, I think he'll take on more scoring responsibility this game. He's also shown he can be a pretty decent defender, so I agree he might be our biggest XFactor for the game, though not the only one. If we can get Thomas to hit a few buckets, and someone else to contribute, then yeah.

I think we'll see 2-3 people running the offense today to never let UNC get comfortable with their D. I think Ejim will step more into Niang's role and handle the ball more. While Ejim is not as crafty as Niang around the hoop, he's more than capable of driving and finishing. If you think about it - Ejim is a decent Niang replacement in the offense. You just need someone else or a few people to make up for Niang's scoring absence.

I have a feeling that Matt Thomas has a break out game much like the K-State game in Hilton earlier this year

Not saying you're wrong, but I'm pretty sure every game Thomas is predicted to have a 'break out game'. You can set your watch to it.

That said, hope he has a great game!

Doubt it. Don't mistake his recent love for Iowa State as a replacement of his life long slobber fest of the ACC.

In his bracket he picked us to go to the elite 8, so there's that. Niang's injury changed his mind, and I don't blame him. Huge loss. There is almost no scenario that played out for this game that would surprise me, wide open IMO.

ISU will still have the best 2 players on the floor, being at least close on rebounds/2nd chance points is the key. Even minus Niang, I still think we're the better team in the half court. Not saying we can't beat them playing fast, just saying, they aren't you're grandfathers UNC.

I was bummed yesterday, woke up pumped up. Let's do this, next man up!

This is actually one of the most anticipated Cyclone games for me that I can remember. I'd love to have Georges but even minus him, this years team is better than last years and last years team was at least a sweet 16 type of squad. Plus, is there a coach that you'd rather have to figure this thing out?

I feel like our defense is what will win it. UNC is awful defensively so I feel we'll get our points. It's not exactly a secret that Niang's strong point isn't defense so I feel a little better about our chances without him today. Or at least that's what I'm telling myself.

Watching wisky play last night was like pulling teeth. I hope we can play our game today and run in the break. I hope to see morris work his mad passing skills! if our help d-fence can work up some steals, than we will be off to the races.

We can do this Cyclones. Need to step it up BIG time inside and avoid fouls.
