Niang has to hit at least 1-2 threes a game in order for our offense to function. Our offense runs thru him at the high post and if he ain't hitting then they sag and eliminate hogue and Mckay inside. He doesn't have to hit 5, he just needs to hit a few to keep them honest which also opens up his driving and dishing. This is what the problem with our offense has been primarily. And, I can call it every time we are being pushed or down that BDJ will bring ball up court and try his cross over and either fall down or lose it, every single game.

to be fair, I still believe something must be physically wrong with Georges. He was limping around and looked so weak compared the rest of the team. It may be that he has been battling the flu or may need a good chiropractor. I have seen nontraumatic spinal subluxations produce the same symptoms when left untreated. Whatever the problem, I hope he is able to resolve it.

You know what this game reminded me of?

West Virginia 2013.

Early-season Big 12 game. Competent opponent*, but ISU figures to have Hilton edge; underwhelming first half, relatively low-scoring, but ISU has small lead. Get on a run, build decent cushion ... then it turns into a nailbiter. Clinch win in final seconds with clutch play/plays.

*(Caveat: OSU '15 more "competent" than WVU '13).

I was at the game. ISU had the ball missed a shot or something and it went out of bounds with no time on the clock. NE fans started celebrating on the court. Then the refs ruled there was less than a second left on the clock. Someone threw in the ball and Rancik tipped it in. The crowd was silent after that.

Nope. The ball went out with .7 left ISU down 1. Tinsely threw a perfect pass from the sideline to Rancik under the basket for a layup. It was either the first or second year that the refs could go to the monitor to determine if a shot was on time at the end of a game. Nebraska team and crowd went wild when they thought the refs had disallowed the basket when they were really just confirming the call on the monitor. That's when they stormed the court only to be crushed a minute later when the basket was confirmed to be on time. Husker tears were sweet even back then.

What makes you say that? If that is the case, my post stands even more or things will only get worse.

I don't think the problems have anything to do with effort, so I don't think a players only meeting is some huge necessity.

This team kind of reminds me of the 3rd Hoiberg team. A team that is taking a while to figure things out and seems a bit fragile.

It bears repeating. I don't know that we will EVER see the likes of the team last year from a toughness standpoint and from a lucky standpoint. We just won't. It's best to forget about how that team pulled games out of the jaws of defeat time and time again. It was luck and skill and that combination doesn't come around often.

I kept saying that this team isn't built to win when they aren't shooting well. And they aren't. We can win games when it is 87-89, but if you would have told me the final was 63-61, I wouldn't have thought we could win. So to gut it out tonight is actually a pretty good sign in my opinion.

How many shots did we have in the second half that were basically in and out? I remember quite a few (in the first half, there were a lot of shots that weren't close though!). That's some bad luck and they just have to keep shooting and trust themselves.
