I was really thinking George would take one at the elbow, turn/shoot or drive/dish/shoot, just once. Never happened.

I guess TJ knows what he is doing. He obviously feels running the offense with cutters, etc. is a better percentage than letting George create.
George shoots one brick from the key,,,, he is on the bench.

Went to Hilton today for the first time in many years. Took my daughter for the first time. Place was rocking today - especially during that last big run that put the game away. Was a really fun stretch and crowd was really into it.

Not sure exactly what the difference was today, but felt like spacing and movement was much better on offense. Team seemed really patient and focused despite some really questionable calls/no calls.
Some could be OU, as our offense was pretty good in Norman. But even with the KSU loss and low point output at TCU I think the offense is coming along and having more good looks than they had been. TJ and Co. are making nice adjustments.

It was a refreshing day especially on the offensive end, but I was surprised OU didn't overplay passing lanes near as much as KState. Can't remember squat about the first WV game. Did they overplay everything. That to me will be the true test...to see if our team can adjust to the more pressure teams.

In the second half OU was overplaying the passing lanes hard, and that is how they got back into the game. Actually this game was almost exactly like the KSU game, except ISU righted the ship and started attacking instead of passing the ball back and forth on the perimeter. Brockington made a bunch of really tough shots and the rest of the team made shots when they were open. Not a lot of jacked up 3s in the game.

I thought he was going to turn and either shoot the open 12 footer or dribble in to take up the difference and post up. First time in a long time where the other team really laid off of that, so there may have been no contingency built for it, or he just wasn't used to seeing that opportunity. Not like what we were doing wasn't working though!

Another low turnover game leads to a very nice W. I think that’s the most important stat for this team going forward. Play smart and take care of the basketball.

^^^THIS^^^ Look at all the crappy offensive games and you'll see around 18 turnovers. That's 36+ points we didn't even get a chance to score plus the other team gets more opportunities and easy buckets. We keep the turnovers down and the offense will be fine.

That's what gave OU a huge chunk of their points early in the 2nd half -- ISU turnovers. They weren't creating much in their set offense, they scored more in transition. Once that got under control, OU went back to minimal scoring.

A few personal notes from yesterday's game:

It was so amazing to be @ Hilton and watch the team play in person! Just a special, special place to see a CBB game. I arrived, bought my clone cone, sat and did not leave my seat until the game ended. Part of it was being in a middle row seat. (g)

From the time-capsule:

That was my first time to see OU in MBB since the 1995 game @ Hilton!
That was the first time to see the ISU men win @ Hilton since the 2000 game vs. Texas Southern.
I improved to 1-1 @ Hilton for the men since moving back to Iowa in 2019. The other game was a loss vs. West Virginia in 2020 (still enjoyed my clone cone).
I am 2-0 in person this year watching the Cyclone men with the other win @ Creighton! Am I a good luck charm? :)

The crowd was great!
The team looked fantastic and focussed.
Brockington is STUD!

Just all kinds of good warm fuzzies for this old-timer yesterday. I don't go to many home games these days, but I am so glad that I went to this one.

Let's Go State!

Great game today! So happy for the guys, they deserved this one. The Saturday sweep of OU after the ladies got their W can't ask for a better day than that.
Played really great ball. Saw Grill at the womens game - I gave him a thumbs up, he had a big smile.
Anything going on with the bearded Groves?
He is a pretty good ball player but seemed to sit a lot and did not do much.
Some of the best defense we have played in a long time. Unrelenting. Not sure we are as good as we looked on offense, but hope so.
Brockington is almost always great. Depends who else does what.

Spent my afternoon at the Beer Dabbler in the Twin Cities today, but was able to catch most of the game on my phone. Awesome stuff. The offense seemed to operate with so much more of a purpose and with a lot more urgency. Gabe acting as a distributor was great to see. Good stuff all around imo.

Also, Brockington hits some extremely tough shots basically every game. What a player.

Wasn't able to make it this time but the beer dabbler is a good time

Even one dribble in once in awhile (without shooting) would draw the defender away from the basket opening backdoor cuts just enough for easier buckets.

He needs to do it a time or two each game otherwise the other team will overplay our other guys. WV is the game for it. Turn, dribble once and shoot it. Bet it goes in too.

Yes, but I think it takes a while before it's available on replay. A day or so? I could be wrong.

Edit: there is often full game replays on YouTube or at least long highlight videos by Mathew Loves Ball that is almost like watching the whole game.

It's right away. At least for me it is through Mediacom. And I don't know why it'd be different for other providers.

You can then rewatch and zip through the commercials, which is also very nice.
