No kidding. Mizzou looked terrible today. I don't think we looked, by any stretch great, but as you said, we got the job done.

We looked pretty good in the 2nd Quarter! Quarters 1,3, & 4....not so much. Love the win! Considering everything these players have been through the last few years (especially the seniors), I really am happy for the players! They deserve a good ending to their careers!

Almost a year ago, an Ankeny, Iowa native with a southern drawl, told his new team that they were going to win a bowl game.

This team had just gone 2-10, their former coach screwed them over, they were riding a 10 game losing streak, and their school had won 2 bowl games in its entire history.

Tonight, this team went 7-6 after beating Minnesota to win the 2009 Insight Bowl in Tempe, Arizona.

Coach Paul Rhoads is either crazy or clairvoyant, either way, we are proud your our coach!

I know that one player doesn't make a team, but no player personifies this team better than Jesse Smith. Jesse Smith, no one gave you a scholarship to play D1 football, but it didn't stop you from showing us all that 'measurables' aren't required to be an All Big12 defender. You just make plays and NONE was bigger than forcing the game winning fumble that allowed us to run the clock out.

I just wanted them to score more points against Minny than IA could... mission accomplished!!! We should of scored more than 14... but what was IA doing scoring 12????

We didn't look good at all on offense other than two drives. On defense we looked great in the first half and okay in the second. One thing was clear, ISU was by far the better team, if it wasn't for stupid mistakes.

I agree...I don't think most people noticed that as he was being double teamed and taken to the ground and the line of scrimmage he reached through and poked the ball out. The guy who recovers gets all the glory but the unsung hero is Jesse Smith...I would expect no less from him!

my thoughts after being at the game:
- MN players are a bunch of trash talkers and cheap hitters.
- Darks knows how to find the open spots in zone coverage
- We had 20K plus there
- Great setting and show, ****-poor stadium facilities
- Big expense to get here, worth every penny for the effort this team gave this year

Happy New Year from Chandler AZ. I hear fireworks in the distant as I type while watching the game AGAIN!

"For every one Minnesota fan we've seen here this week there must be at least 5 or 6 Iowa State fans." Don't know if that quote by the broadcaster has been mentioned here, but I love it!

Iowa had a backup QB.
