*** Official SELECTION SUNDAY Thread ***

But we are likely talking about them bumping Kansas who gets the Duke, North Carolina, Kentucky, UCLA treatment.
National pundits had a bigger boner for the ACC than the Big12 this year though.
Belief that Big12 is great league but no contenders could hurt.

Top four seeds are placed in nearest region possible based on S-curve.
We will likely be the first or second 3 seed with KU, ND, and ISU in the mix. Top 3 seed will go to Midwest as that is closest region for all 3 teams. KU is likely to be the 2 seed in the Midwest which means we cannot be the 3 in that region (committee doesn't match conference foes until Elite 8). We will be next highest 3 seed at that point so we will get the next closest region (South).

This is absolutely right. There is also a chance of being placed in the East if they need to do some balancing of regions based on S-curve ranks as Syracuse isn't much farther than Houston.

If Wisconsin is a 1 and Kansas is a 2 I would say there is about an 80% chance we'll be in the South and a 20% chance we'll be in the East.

There is no way ND is in 2 seed talk with their SOS. Ain't happening. If I've known one thing watching committee chair talk after every selection Sunday it's ths they put a huge emphasis on your SOS. I couldn't disagree more about us, KU and ND fighting for last 2 seed. Gonzaga is not a lock in anyway. If you compare ISU resume with zaga its not even close. We have double the top 50 wins. Double. Their SOS is in the 40's. ISU is 6th.

I wonder if they have 4 brackets ready for the four possible outcomes of these two games. Seems like both are very meaningful.

I agree with this, there is a better chance of us bumping Gonzaga than ND being a 2 seed over either us or KU. Having said that, Gonzaga and Kansas will be the 2 seeds and we will be a 3 seed with ND.

If you go to Holly Rowe's twitter, you'll see a picture of Cameron Ellis. His team just won the Kansas 5A state championship. Coincidentally, like his brother, his jersey number also reflects his age.

Um, that's Perry's grandson

How much different does it look if Michigan State beats Wisconsin?

This is my guess with a Sparty win. It is tougher because I am projecting that Iowa State gets sent out of the Midwest due to the "5 spots" balancing that the committee would use to ensure that after adding up the S-curve numbers of the top 4 seeds in each region, no one region has a total score of 5 spots more than any other.

So my guess as to how they would fix that, which is only one option of many, is to trade Iowa State, my projected top 3 seed, with Baylor, my projected worst 3 seed. The committee might also choose to trade out Wisconsin for Kansas, which would then probably swap Iowa State (who would be the Midwest 3) with Notre Dame, for example. There are a lot of things that could happen.

Lunardi saying nothing changes with a Wisconsin loss.
If things did change:
Midwest
1- Kentucky
2- Wisconsin
3- Iowa State
4- UNI

South
1- Duke
2- Gonzaga
3- Notre Dame
4- UNC

East
1- Villanova
2- Kansas
3- Maryland
4- UNC

West
1- Virginia
2- Arizona
3- Baylor
4- Louisville

Pretty much region of death. Top 1, 2, and 3 seed in same region.

I wasn't aware of this guideline. Would be much more favorable.

Presume this would be most likely scenario as pundits have been clamoring about it for the past month. Wisconsin would be sent to East. Puts KU in Midwest. We are sent to South with Duke and Gonzaga.

Wisconsin being down 11 means the game is pretty much over.

I agree; I think they'd swap in Kansas, which would then require ISU getting swapped out.

But who knows? I did the math wrong on an earlier post, and getting that 5 spot differential could be close depending on where teams are on the S-curve. If the committee has Iowa State at 10 behind Notre Dame instead of at 9, we could very well get stuck in the Midwest with Kentucky and Wisconsin.

So Duke,North Carolina, Virginia, KU, Wiscy, and SDS all bombed leaving the committee to do some shuffling.
