I can hear it already if we struggle at Okie State Wed.... They are on the bottom, we should do this, this and this against them. Well....there's a reason they hung with Baylor last night, beat Wichita State, and have the record they do. Cowboys are starved for a conference win (0-3 and have to go to KU next). Think we're going into a hornet's nest. Will take a 'very' good performance by us both offensively and defensively, imo

I am not expecting a win at OSU. There's always a "could," but it sets up as advantage for Oklahoma State, they aren't going to start 0-5.

At TCU, I think that's realistic to win ... then KU at home, almost gotta have that one, need a signature win, regardless of how this week goes.

I liked a lot of things about this game. Most importantly they didn't spot Texas 10 points early. I thought the team played hard for almost the entire game. I've thought for a while that Deonte is surprisingly good on defense.

After I got home, I watched the last few minutes on the replay. I had to laugh because one of the announcers said that we were in trouble if we ever had foul trouble or injuries because we are not a deep team. There are problems with this team, no doubt, but we have more numbers than we've had in a while.

I also add that it was good to have the extremely negative guy back in Section 216. He's been gone for over a month and I was wondering if he was dead. But he's right back on his game. Naz takes a wide open 3 and misses, he *******. Deonte does anything, he *******. Anyone misses a FT, and he thinks they are doing it on purpose.

I thought the same thing when I heard that. Pretty much anybody that isn't named KU, Duke, Kentucky or UNC have the same problems if one of their top players 3 starters gets injured.

Fantastic improvement, Deonte. you played unselfishly, successfully drew defenses into you (WITHOUT going TOO far into traffic), and set your teammates up to score (three assists against four turnovers…eh!) If I am willing to criticize, then I SURE should be as (or more) ready to compliment you for the GOOD! AND we’re NOT seeing the defensive lapses – as in the past. I’ll be honest, though, I WAS worried about Coach Prohm keeping you in in the waning moments of the game (worried about you committing turnovers, missing key free throws, and generally “net negative” effects that might lead to a come-from-ahead loss, BUT you kept your wits about you and it turned out ok. Coach Prohn does (apparently) have QUITE a lot of confidence in you, so that should help you maintain confidence in yourself! We ARE rooting for you…and the team…wishing you the best!

Jackson and Morris had quite a few hockey assists as Naz, Matt and especially Burton were making the extra pass for some great looks. There was a stretch when UT clawed back in that was concerning, but those runs happen, and overall these guys seem to be figuring things out.

Pretty sure there was a couple of times where it turned into Jackson at the 1 and Morris at the 2 and good things resulted--maybe it was in transition?

Not saying this is how it should be, but perhaps it adds a nice wrinkle when Jackson is in.

By the way I've yet to find anything wrong with having Jackson out there and his hustle is probably a big reason for it.

Weiler Babb had some fouls last night but I like his ceiling too.

Actually I would say they have a better chance of beating OSU than TCU just bc TCU has better bigs. But if they can go 1-1 in those games it will be a win.

Very good game by the team. Played defense and had great looking offense for most of the game. If they hit 2 more free throws they match the vegas line. Matt still looks bothered by his foot. I hope he can get some more rest and get it feeling better. Seems like the last few years an injury has really affected the team.

A couple Texas kids hit 3s they normally wouldn't make to make the game closer but that will happen sometimes. Thought Young didn't play enough.

Last thing. You can tell most of the time when Long is going to miss a 3. Both of the corner 3s he shot in the first half he was fading away on the release instead of going straight up. He would probably be shooting close to 50% if he was more consistent on his shot and stayed away from taking bad ones as well.

If his hands come down quickly he's most likely going to miss.

Young didn't enter the game in the first half until right before the 12 minute mark and the second half was almost identical. I definitely think we are a better team when he is on the floor but I also think that Prohm wants to manage his fouls as well. Young's minutes will continue to increase. I have to say though, Bowie is getting better as well.

The "make the easy play" advice from Monte was dead on. Deonte certainly did that. If the drive wasn't there, he looked to dish. If it was, he took it. Monte may be the transmission of this team, but Deonte is the engine.

I think at this point Prohm is going to run with the hot hand, with a longer leash for Burton due to the ceiling for this team is higher with him on the floor. Both Bowie and Burton were playing well vs Texas and there weren't any foul issues to force one of the two to the bench as had happened recently. I assume that if either happened we would have seen Solomon earlier and if he showed well would have played more minutes at the expense of the other 2.

It seems like I'm way more of a Bowie fan than most. I like Young getting minutes but Bowie is so active on the offensive glass he's tough to take out. Unfortunately he FT problem is bad.

Yeah, his FT shooting is definitely a down fall. It just feels like an empty possession every time he goes to the line. It probably wouldn't be as glaring if some of our better shooters got to the line more often.

I like Bowie a lot as well. He usually rebounds and plays D and always hustles. Last game he didnt' rebound well but that isn't the norm.
