No Cyclone takeaways against Kansas. Gotta have a couple and it woul be great if one was a pick 6. Or a Noel kick return TD. Or both!

Without a multiple TO advantage, I can't see a win.

Cooper could have played at BYU. He was wisely held out.

I like everything I’ve seen from this team since Ohio.

KU was certainly disappointing. One or two plays (or calls) made the difference.

Came back with domination on the road and do not care how “bad” people think BYU is. Texas beat them 35-6 in comfy Austin.

Yes Texas has a lot of talent. They always have a lot of talent.

Trust in Heacock to have the guys bend but not break. Maybe grab an INT (or two!) Cooper’s presence will make a difference. I also like the fact that the Texas QB’s have been fairly immobile. Please don’t get beat over the top over and over.

On offense:

We are all mostly afraid Iowa State will try to run the ball repeatedly into a wall, which is what most teams have tried and failed to gain yards.

We can all hope this does not happen.

But we are going to need Rocco and Company to play their A game to win, even if it’s a lower scoring contest.

Texas is gettable on gash plays and Iowa State is ranked high in explosive plays, mostly in the passing game.

Here’s to hoping Scheelhaase has another improved play calling game. Rocco and Company, including a nice stable of RB’s, have the chops to get it done.

Special Teams are pretty even. Which is saying something because Texas has been highly touted this year.

However, I like our kickers and returners. A lot.

Of course turnovers matter the most. So it is understood to not lose that battle.

We haven’t had a Big 12 Overtime game in 10 years (I think?) Why not INT them in the 1st OT and Contreraz wins it.

Texas 26
Iowa State 29

I said several weeks back that the key to beating UT was UT losing another game before coming to Ames. The recipe we needed was a UT with nothing to play for and some cold weather.

Instead, we are getting a UT that is still in the hunt for the B12 title and a playoff bid. And the weather looks pretty decent for this time of year.

Bad combo for us. UT wins and covers easily. 2 TDs at least.

Like any week it will come down to the OL.

BYU's DL helped a lot last week but perhaps it still got ISU some momentum.

Remember OSU 2011? - Cyclones are shocking the football world once again. Campbell teams have seemed to knock off at least one team they "shouldn't", UT in Ames, is the team in 2023. 35-31.

Same. If Blum, Williams, & the WRNL guys all think we'll lose unless we play a perfect game and Texas plays their B game, Then I'm inclined to agree with them.
Sadly, they are correct. And honestly, even then, I don't know. In the only comparable game we have against the top half of the Big 12 standings....

They a** beat Kansas 40-14.
They lost close to Oklahoma on a last second TD.
They dominated BYU with their backup QB in a game that BYU's starter played.

We got whupped in Norman and lost to Kansas.

Again. I think we have a chance but the reality is this is not 2011 Oklahoma State, which was a very flawed team.

There are two truths.

We are a decent team that can be a good team.
And we don't match up well anywhere with Texas.

Does that mean we'll lose 48-0. No, not it doesn't. Does it mean we can't win 31-0? No, no it doesn't. It just means realistically there is a gulf between this years team and Texas team. Part of that is experience, part of it is pure talent.

The team has just one shot to seize an opportunity of a life time. Stage is set perfect for us. Night game the great weather for the fans to get a nice froth going.

Texas jumps out of the gate and scores on it's 2 first possessions. Complete surgical dissection.

Offense can't run because OL isn't good enough. Rocco can't pass because they are getting pressure with just 4. Offense can't get any traction and sputters every drive.

Defense slows down Texas enough to give a glimmer of hope but it's dashed when a TO in our favor is negated by an inadvertent whistle. Texas talking trash and cheap shotting our players. Their fans chant SEC! SEC! We lose by 14. Mom's spaghetti.

If this was the championship game in Arlington, 37-10 Texas. Game in Ames in cold weather, subtract 10 points for Texas. 27-10 Texas. Hope the good guys prove me wrong.

IF, somehow, ISU can prevent all of the for sure blocked punt/scoop and score, pick six, and 70 yd pass bomb for a score, Other turnovers we can handle. ISU wins 24-21.

With Iowa State football the last few years, I always try to use this rule.

If we score more than 24 points, we probably win
If we score less than 24 points, we probably lose

Becht has to have a clean game for us to have a chance. If he doesn't throw a pick in this game, I like our chances.
