I'd love to get the chance to play at one of those courses just once. I'd almost certainly end up in triple digits, but it would still be cool.

Nothing against you, but I'd bet a lot of money no amateur golfer on this site could break 100 if they had to play in a major. Heck the best amateurs in the country fire low 80's in the US open.

David's score on #7 has been adjusted from a 13 to a 14 after they went through the whole mess.

The adjustment was made following an error in reviewing his score on the 7th hole. David lost his first two balls from the tee and then played a wrong ball for the third ball played from the tee. On discovering the mistake at the green he had to return to where the wrong ball was played but the correct ball could not be found. Therefore he had to play again from the tee for a fourth time under penalty of stroke and distance. He played six shots in completing the hole with the fourth ball from the tee. He incurred a two-shot penalty for playing the wrong ball but the strokes played with the wrong ball do not count in his score (Rule 6.3c).

Tiger talks about playing a golf tournament as if he's preparing for and recovering from the tour de france. Like, he's still recovering from the exhaustion of winning the Masters.

He looks injured

Either injured or just disinterested. He was laying the groundwork for not playing well early this week. Wonder what the deal is.

I'm really curious how you play the wrong ball in a major. I would sure think they'd do a good job getting abandoned balls out of the rough before the tournament...

I had that same thought. The Masters was 3 months ago.

I just wonder if he lost his mental edge after it a bit.

Meh, you get a little older and you just don't feel like you're in peak physical shape much of the time. I mean, heck, I've hurt myself turning to look at something, taking a step oddly, stuff like that. It really doesn't take much when you're 40+

He lost his first two tee shots so there is a reasonable chance someone else lost a tee shot earlier in the round and that's the ball he hit. That deep rough is tough to see what ball you're hitting.

When he started playing again after surgery a couple of years ago he would have a good round followed up by a lousy round followed up by a great round. It wasn't inconceivable that he could put together 4 good to great rounds in a row. He just happened to do it at The Masters which actually isn't all that surprising considering how much emphasis he has always put into the Majors.
I think with his age (for an athlete) and the wear and tear on his body he has trouble putting together 4 good to great rounds anymore. It happens to everyone.

I mean he's in his 40's with at least a couple knee surgeries and 4(?) back surgeries including a spinal fusion under his belt.

serious? I never heard Tiger mention that ever, in any post-round interview :). Every time he grimaces after a shot GolfChannel twitter feed blows up.

Kind of surprising to see Spieth in the hunt after two days. Not that he doesn't have the talent, it's just been a while since he's won a tournament. It's funny how the game can come and go for everyone, not just us weekend hackers.

Spieth seems to let his emotions get into his game a bit often. I think he needs to harden up a little bit mentally, and maybe he's starting to do that.
