Of we don't land Diallo it would not surprise me to see the staff try to go after a 5th yr big or late Juco big. It isn't all that crowded in the front court. If McKay get in FT or God forbid gets hurt then what? We are back to a very small lineup struggling to rebound. Williams is more of a perimeter wing then he is a banger inside. Staff knows Diallo is one and done and yet they see a big need for him next year other than he's a top 10 recruit.

No..this team needs another big who can rebound and play good defense inside.

Could be (per the Hines comment) that the staff feels good about their chances with Diallo and are thinking 2016 with the other two? That is my current crazily optimistic view that I do believe I will adopt.

The issue is front court mintues are pretty set with PF - Niang C - McKay Most 5th year transfers are looking for an immediate starting position in order to show case their talent and possibly get paid the next year.
Nader, Williams and Burton can play stretch 4 if Diallo were not to come (ala Houge) and we can use that scholly to back fill 16 and beyond. ISU has been "small" before and been very effective.

I see next year as Fred's best team with a chance to go further than any of his previous teams. Next year is a certainty, though his teams afterward could be just as good.

If he feels that as well, then why not go all out and make next year's team even stronger? Unless they have complete confidence Cooke will recover fully, I have no problem with bringing in a PG who can give Monte some rest as well as allowing Niang to not tire himself out by bringing the ball up. That still leaves a schollie for Diallo as well as a red shirt big. Has Fred ever banked a schollie vs. filling them all? I don't recall that happening.

No grad transfer PG in their right mind would spend their last year on the bench watching Monte though.

That's probably good. To me, 2016 is really going to be a big class, and I'd almost rather have a guy or two sitting out that can be ready to help then than to add to an already crowded lineup for 2015.

Ditto. Diallo and two guys sitting out. We don't need anyone else. We have our point forward, our rim protector(need another) PG we.got a clyburn in Williams, a kane like physical driver in Burto l, a 3 point shoooting back up point\combo guard (cooke). We are loaded. Need to have some guys in weighting unless their is a serious upgrade available but I doubt it.

The staff has made it very clear, via reports through Travis Hines & others, that there is no intention to take a graduate transfer this year. If we see a transfer, and I believe we will see a point guard, it will be an individual that sits a year and then is eligible for 2-3 years. Essentially this team will have 4 seniors and a junior (who could leave early) in the starting lineup next year. Absolutely no reason to take a grad. transfer. I would expect at least one transfer (maybe another if Diallo is not landed) and then bank a scholarship for 2016. That will be a huge recruiting class for us. Need Bridges or Coffey.

3 schollies available right now

Want List for those 3 schollies:
1. Diallo
2. Transfer that has to sit out next year
3. Really good transfer that has to sit out next year, otherwise, bank this one for a potential mid-season transfer next year

I really don't think it is too much more complicated than that

The one complication is if Diallo goes elsewhere. In that case I think we'll bring in someone Edozie-like who can defend the post and has 5 fouls, just in case.

If you're bringing in someone for next year, why not shoot for a guy that can give you more than 2 min/game in conference play?

If he does not play immediately, he will most likely not be a graduate transfer.
