Well holding a team without a basket for 6 minutes is about as close to dominating as I can think of.

Typically it would be good if we scored more than 6 points in that same 6 minute stretch... ya know, to be considered dominating.

I think what some people don't get about the frustration is that by all rights, if we were playing how we can, we would be crushing them. Up by 10-15. It seems that defensive effort was lacking in the 1st half - notice what I said, EFFORT. That's controllable. They are going to make their shots. We can't always control that but we can control our effort. Now, the 2nd half has been better but if we had played like that in the 1st half, we could have been up by a bit instead of trailing at halftime.

This team doesn't give 100% all the time. When they do, they are truly a great team, not just good. They are capable of so much more, through effort, than they have done so far today. What are they saving their energy for? This could be the last game of the season, there's nothing left to wait for. I've felt all season like our guys were just trying to conserve energy for a long run in the tourney. Our losses to South Carolina, K-State, Texas Tech - those 3, at least, were preventable if we push for 40 minutes with relentless energy. That we are a good team without trying all the time is frustrating because it feels like the guys know this and fall back onto it every game.

The beginning of the 2nd half against Iowa, the 2nd half comeback against OU, the comeback against KU in Kansas City - those were magical runs. Things of beauty. We won't always play like that in terms of making shots and forcing turnovers but I can't stand when I see our guys not giving 100% all the time especially on defense. Hopefully we will turn it around and pull out the W today but it shouldn't be so close even right now!

For example, McKay's effort right there on the putback was the most I have seen from him today. Where has that been? Where has the intensity been that we just had on defense getting 2 blocks? THAT is effort. Glad they are bringing it now, just need to bring it for 40 minutes!
