Just have to say Blum and Rosenfels are both talented and make a great team. Wish they were the radio broadcasters.
I'm impressed with Blum at play-by-play, I think it's only second time I've heard it ... Bret and Sage seem to have good chemistry.

Now that this game is over it is too early for a **** Iowa post?![]()
Blum and Sage are great, but John and Eric are legendary.Just have to say Blum and Rosenfels are both talented and make a great team. Wish they were the radio broadcasters.
Crapola
Bull, they are dominating a VERY good Defensive Line...a mid-level Big 12 type unit.
I thought Park looked fairly "pedestrian" passing, as a whole ... but he finished 27-of-35. I can appreciate efficiency.
I want to lose the punting battle 45 to 0 [no punts]Won the punting battle 45.4 to 45.0!
In first game you have to get film of all facets of your game for training purposes. There is way more to it than winning in a early non league game in my opinion.OL wasnt great..but it wasnt bad..pass protection was good...UNI early in game but 7 in box and where determined to not let ISU run ball..so what do we do...try run ball. First half play calling IMO was bad..very conservative and some bad calls by manning...2nd half gloves came off and once we realized we have 4-6 pretty good WR's then things changed and it allowed Montgomery to go into beast mode..MOntgomery is a man..dude is real deal..he will have 1000yds this year if he stays healthy.
Overall...Hey look we start the season 1-0 for godsakes and did it in fairly convincing fashion.
Most of the incompletions were drops too. I only remember two bad passes all day; the interception and one low pass on a screen pass. Maybe the one that went off Lazards hands was a little high, but catchable. Otherwise spot on darts.
Sat down to watch the game and here come 2 heavyset Purple Hok fans - I hate the ticket holders next to me who sell or give their tickets to the opposition. Damn I am buying an extra seat just to keep it empty and no rival scum to sit there. CLONES - sell to a Clone fan. Don't fall under the evil spell of $$$>
JMO. Blum gives out much more info and specifics concerning plays than Walters, and Sage is, well, a former college football player. He has more insight.
I like both guys and think they did a great job I agree 100 on Blum being great (maybe not better than JW) but at times, Sage is a little "canned", he kind of just gives you that "coach/player speak", it comes off superficial and not very insightful IMO. He's not alone, almost all former players do it, he just doesn't have a ton of experience yet. He also has a love affair with the small town Iowa kids on UNI's roster, he seemed to actually be more knowledgeable about a lot of those kids than ISU's.
Seem to be working this drive.
It is more reliant on the defensive presnap alignment than anything the offense does. I am fine with it being called and let Park and the receivers audible out of it. I would like to see us play action a delayed go route out of it if DBs start cheating.I literally posted that and then they started having some success on the outside. The successful plays I saw were more the ones going downhill...Ryen seems to fit those well.
I was more referencing the direct horizontal screens. That's a tough block for the lead, a tough catch and run, and an easy read for the corner.
