Exactly. I frankly don't know anything about Burhalter, he could be a great fit. But color me unimpressed if we've waited a year+ & it ends up being him.
We are on the verge of becoming an echo chamber here, but that is my sentiment exactly. If you are Greg, do you even want the job because it has gotten so toxic with all the fans right now?

It's probably going to be toxic because the USSF will be under massive scrutiny for years for even breathing.

The u-20 team will face Mexico in the u-20 final later today, it's not airing anywhere but on CONCACAF's website, you have to have a subscription to watch it probably.

Also fun fact, 12 members of Cuba's team defected after they were eliminated. 12. Holy moly.

For the record none of the players are super excited about Berhalter either (except probably Will Trap). The fact Julen Lopetegui asked for the job and was told no thanks tells you everything you need to know. They want to hire an American and develop and "American style" whatever that means. Good think Ernie Stewart is here to take the pressure off of USSF. I think that is his only job requirement.

There's a rumor that LA Galaxy are trying to get Berhalter at the last minute, Wahl admitted that there are rumblings but a LA Galaxy rep has said that there has been no offers to any coaching candidates yet. Klinsmann is in the running for that job as well supposedly.

We are currently up 2-0 in the U-20 CONCACAF final vs Mexico right now thanks to two Alex Mendez goals (LA Galaxy Academy) team is coached by Tab Ramos

EDIT: We won and allowed 0 shots on Target. I also need to clarify that Mendez is on his way to Germany as well to Freiburg

A good amount of this team came from MLS academies however

I actually like Gregg. I have spent time with him and his soccer brain is fascinating. He played at unc and knows the college game. Played in bundesligq and mls. I like the terrain his career has covered. He will certainly have an uphill challenge. Us soccer has failed and most hires are starting at disadvantage at this point.

Woof, it's not been a good week for USSF at all. The US Soccer Foundation is suing them, there's obvious nepotist related controversy over the Berhalter hiring on top of the SUM allegations.

Anyway, the first game with Berhalter at the helm is vs Panama in Janurary for Camp Cupcake.

Josh Sargent made his debut for Werder Bremen's senior team yesterday and scored on his first touch within the first two minutes of being subbed on

Pulisic starred for Dortmund in the UCL this week.
Sancho is injured so it looks like Pulisic will be starting for Dortmund again this week vs Werder Bremen, who should have Josh Sargent on the bench.

Plenty of American Bundesliga players are on the bench as well this week.

EDIT: Guess I'm wrong, in my defense, I haven't been able to watch a lot of Bundesliga :p

Sigi Schmidt has passed away at the age of 65 on Christmas Day after a stint in the hospital

Tributes are pouring from across the US Soccer community has he has the most MLS wins as a head coach and was the Sounders first MLS HC with 4 USOC wins during his stint. He was also the USMNT HC for the 06 WC cycle.

In place of flowers, his family has asked that you donate to the UCLA men's soccer program, a team he coached.

Dortmund is getting €64m ($73m) for the transfer. I’m not sure I like the idea of him staying with Dortmund to finish the season. They have about zero incentive to play him now and Sancho and Brun Larson have both basically passed him on the team sheet.

I’m sure Pulisic had a say in how things are going to play out, but I think it may have been better to see if Chelsea could have found him a different loan to get him to summer. I’m sure a club like Fulham fighting for it’s life in the Premier League wouldn’t have turned down Pulisic if offered.

I have to think it’s Dortmund that wanted the loan for the rest of the season? Unless Chelsea doesn’t have the money right now.

Yeah, I’m sure Dortmund had some say in the timing. They’ve still got CL action so they could use the squad depth. It seems like most of Pulisic’s run this season has come in the PL when team’s need to cover those midweek games.

Saw some chatter today that Chelsea was motivated to get the deal done now and not leave it until summer due to possible FFP sanctions in the future. Chelsea needs to freshen up that roster as a lot of their impact attackers are on the wrong side of 30.
