It could affect the 2026 bid.

Plus this would mean the Women's team would be banned from the 2019 WWC.

Anyway, ESPN has confirmed that Gulati will not be seeking reelection, didn't endorse anyone. Unlike what rumors were saying.
The men playing in an unsanctioned tournament would put a ban on the women?
FIFA has a nice little monopoly, don't they?

Looks like Jonathan Gonzalez has chosen to play for Mexico. He had been representing the USA in the youth teams.

Huge loss for us. He’s a 18 midfielder for Monterrey. He started for them and was key for Monterrey winning a title.

Apparently we didn’t even contact him for the November friendlies or for the January. An unreal level of incompetence. He’s going to be a star.

Seems to be a lot of that lately.

This is 100 percent because we didn't qualify. Bruce could have capped tied him, but he didn't, and know here we are. This is going to be a HUGE deal. **** You Bruce Arena, at least we got Omar Gonzalez!

Just awful. There are good reasons to have not called him in for the November friendly. The true failure was that nobody from US Soccer got in touch with him to let him know what was going on. Just a quick, “Hey dude, you are definitely in our plans for the rebuild, but we don’t want to take you away from important matches for your club. Keep grinding and we’ll get you into camp for the March friendlies.”

Exactly. I should have worded it better. It’s just baffling they couldn’t even pick up the phone. The kid wanted to play for us and we blew him off.

On top of that, he’s surrounded by people who would love to see him play for Mexico.

So uh, SUM is really sucking at crowd control right now. The whole Gonzales situation (A US Soccer Scout said they were in contact with him by the way) plus the Athletes Council sent a survey out to the 8 candidates and in it, Martino suggested that SUM intentionally chose to have the Costa Rica WCQ in NY for Money reasons.

So an official press statement was released via US Soccer saying that is not the case.

We don’t have any coach or official in the structure that can integrate players from real leagues with our MLS flunkies successfully.

We have the new president today, the good news is that it's not Carter. The bad news (at least for some) is that it's Carlos Cordeiro. It wasn't even close between the insider candidates and the outsiders but Carter never led and Martino was the highest non establishment candidate in the end. However, Carlos is a huge promoter of grassroots soccer so here's hoping

Dan Flynn, USSF CEO, Revealed that the new GM position as well will be separate between the Men and Women's programs and will likely focus on the actual soccer while Cordeiro focuses on the finances

I guess if you squint this is a good thing, considering the alternative. The beauty of hiring the second in command is they know exactly why something didn't work, the problem is, they often were part of the bad decisions in the first place.

Geoff Cameron went scorched earth on US Soccer the other day. We need to develop all players, not just the ones whose parents can afford to send them to satellite camps and regional training.

Just need to stop using the USMNT as a benefit and promotional tool for the MLS and use it to you know, try and win games.

Better than Carter, but not what I wanted. The election is a complete farce. Hopefully he follows through with hiring of a GM of sorts to deal with the on-field side of things. Nothing says complete overhaul like replacing the #1 in command with the #2....

I'm willing to give the guy a chance. He announced his intention to run before Sunil decided not to, so I'm hoping it's not status quo.

I need to add a couple details.

-There was a technical glitch of some sort in the first round of voting which the NASL/Silva will likely use in their many lawsuits against USSF/MLS/ETC. Go look up TurnerEsq on twitter, he's keeping an eye on the many lawsuits. There was a new one filed just recently based on fiduciary issues regarding NASL's D2 status

-Athletes' Council were the deciding factor essentially and they agreed to vote for Cordeiro as a block.

Great more MLS infiltration in to our NT. We need to stop worrying about guys not getting straight runs of games in europe and start worrying about why guys getting runs of games in MLS never make it to Europe.

Firing Klinsmann was one thing but completely forsaking what he built in favor of fielding an MLS team in the hex was a freaking embarrassment and disaster.

Timothy Weah is listed for the 18 man roster for PSG's Senior Team vs ESTAC Troyes tomorrow. Looks likely to play as he's the only true striker listed.

(PSG is sending the B team because they're facing Real in the Champs league this upcoming week as well)

FYI, Gulati has stepped away from the North American WC bid.

Now the heads of the federations for US, Mexico, and Canada are the co-Head Chairmen.

It's because of "Trump" (And that uh, more than likely Morocco is bribing more money under the table at this point)

In CONCACAF news,CONCACAF has decided that all 6 teams from this recent Hex (Mexico, Honduras, Trinidad & Tobago, Panama, Costa Rica, and the US) will automatically qualify for the CONCACAF Nations League. The other 43 eligible CONCACAF teams will play qualifying rounds to fill out the rest of the field (Guatemala is the only ineligible team due to FIFA regulations that they violated)

Also the Gold Cup has been expanded to 16 teams. Effective immediately

There's a rumor that the next Copa America in 2019, in Brazil, will include Mexico, US, a possible 3rd CONCACAF team and AFC teams (They're talking to Japan, Australia, Qatar, South Korea, China, etc)

This will likely mean that if true, we'll likely be using a B team for the Gold Cup again.

Also Sarachen is considering inviting Timothy Weah to the Paraguay friendly to cap tie him. France is monitoring the situation (Okay, if you need an explanation, US Soccer requires you to have Citizenship to be eligible for any natty team male or female, France and most European countries don't, before anyone starts freaking out again, Weah was born in the US and has said he intends to play for the US. This is essentially a recruiting game of cat and mouse, He can play for the US now and possibly make the switch later but he'd have to file for a one time switch however)
