I didn't see bad spirited showboating. I saw a really good player, having fun by making a dunk a little more spectacular.

I'm personally not a fan of the show boating, but if Fred is ok with it, that's all I care about.

You know, I haven't been a fan of it either, usually because it was being done to us.

Ever since Melvin gave BYU the bird last year though, I am like - stick it to them. As long as we are man enough to take it when it happens to us.

My guess is CFH is fine with if you have the rest of your game in order.

And it would be Kansas and all bets, etiquette and decorum are suspended in this case. And for the Hoks, for KU and the Hoks. And maybe Baylor.

And Texas

Ok, for the Hoks and the Big XII

My takeaways from playing a NAIA school:

Custer looked impressive when you factor in he missed 17 practices to start his freshman year. I think we are set at pg for the next 3 years with him and morris.

SDW will probably not touch the floor much if at all once thomas and nadar are back. Yes he scored some points, but he looked bad defensively.

Edozie played with some fight. I know he had 3 inches and 35 pounds on their biggest guy, but he was aggressive. He should be able to give some good spot minutes this year.

He missed a bunch of bunnies is what he meant. He missed a couple of fairly easy shots pretty badly. He's a joy to watch though.

He also had two really nice face up jump shots too. Who knows if those were just luck though.

I'm hoping Edozie and Nader can maybe be an enforcer type we've been missing (other than maybe Kane and Babb but they were perimeter guys). Everyone talks about McKay finally giving us a rim protector but sometimes you need a guy to go in and bang, thinking like maybe against OU and Spangler.

The line between "showboating" and "firing the crowd up" is a real thin one.

For those not on Twitter.....or not following Fran Fraschilla.......some tweets from him this morning:

Fran Fraschilla@franfraschilla
Saw the Iowa State score. Cyclones have 7 different guys who can get you 20 and that doesn't include PG maestro, Monte Morris, who can, too

Fran Fraschilla@franfraschilla
Forgot that. Yikes! RT @CMarlatt25: @franfraschilla that was without 3 players that will make a difference come January.

Fran Fraschilla@franfraschilla
McKay big help in December. Deep team RT @nbadraftblog: Hope Coach Hoiberg finds good defensive lineup out of this group. Has been an issue

and of course, one Hawkeye fan who is feeling slighted by Fran, has to ask him about the Hawkeyes this year........in the middle of his ISU comments.......

Fran Fraschilla@franfraschilla
Yes. Tighter D, PG play, Uthoff maturing all key. RT @briankolson: What do you think the Hawkeyes will look like this year? Tourney caliber?

Or we can not. I'd rather not have people doing this crap to him after all BDJ did was embarrass a small team. Let him be, he wont need us telling him he made the wrong choice as the season goes on. He'll figure that out for himself.

"By your team" = "firing the crowd up"

"Against your team" = "showboating"

Basically. There are times when this isn't the case, but normally it just depends on perspective. I'm sure Georgetown fans were ****** when FGCU dunked all over them in the tourney and accused them of showboating, but the rest of the country absolutely loved it.

When looking how Edozie played people need to remember when he is playing minutes in the games that matter, he won't be asked to score unless it is a dunk. He looked shaky when they tried to have him post up.

I tuned into this game excited to see the new players, Dejean-Jones, Custer, the Greek, and to see if there was any improvement in some of the returners like Edozie and SDW. What impressed me most of all was Naz Long's quick trigger, even when he was not completely open. He is just going to drive opponents nuts with an ability to hit threes like that even when he's guarded.

One poster commented that he saw a big drop off when the whole bench was playing. Mind you, that lineup of Custer, SDW, Edozie, the Greek and Jackson are probably players 9-13 on the depth chart (when you add Thomas, Nader and McKay), and they looked pretty darn good to me.

Custer handled the ball well, SDW showed off his athleticism and shooting (not so much his defense) and Edozie had his own highlight reel. In years past, the deep bench has looked like a circus act, but not this year. The 12th or 13th best player on this year's team can give you quality minutes, and that has never been true before.
