I'm still not sure moving the student section was a good thing for stadium noise. they are further in the corner instead of stretched along the side. I realize for selling seats and field storming the move was justified, but for fan experience I really don't believe it was a improvement.

Neither was moving the students behind the baskets in Hilton.

But you know what they say about money and BS.

I thought that too.

Looked like if he had just paused a half-step for whoever was (sort of) blocking for him to get out ahead, he would have beat that last guy and taken it to the house.
Anthony Johnson tackled him!

We'll be fine. If we win, we.win
If we lose we go onto next week and take care of business.
I think we'll be undefeated after the Baylor game

I thought it was great in pregame analysis how the coaching staff was able to say straight faced that this is the most complete team they've faced this season.

No context, just shade.

You're right, he is. I don't know why I just assumed they were listing him as a FB. I guess he just has that look that reminds me more of Jeff Woody and guys like that. After having so many WR-ish tight ends play key roles the last few years, he's a different kind of player.
He’s what they call a hybrid. Shifts to multiple positions.

We did not get a sniff at THEIR punts, yet ours is always hold your breath time. Extra points have been sometimes low at the cross bar? Blocked today? Without the wind at our back, kicks are vanilla. Kick straight to the guy at the 5 yard line, with an open field in front of him. Simply not enuf coaching focus on ST's.
We were in on nearly every punt they made. Caused some really poor punts because he had to rush them. I was encouraged by our punt rush.

I think the hangover trickled to the fans too.

while the size of the crowd was great particularly with the threat of rain, I thought we were rather docile.

I recognize Clone fans typically don’t scream much when we are on defense but even when prompted to help out on third down we were still a little quiet.

Hopefully we ramp up against Baylor. Particularly whenever Baylor is inside the 20 on either end.

This to me is low-hanging fruit for the current ISU football program.

I try to go to 1 away game every year. Last year it was WVU, this year was Iowa. Both places, the in-stadium music/video boards did a massively better job than we do to get the crowd going at key moments. (yes, I know WVU took it too far and should have been penalized for it) How difficult would it to be to (at a minimum) copy what other places are doing on 3rd down/goal line situations?

I totally agree.

With just a little nudge we can get the crowd rowdy when the opponent has the team on first and second down and let them work into a frenzy on third or fourth down.

Such a presence is sure to have an impact on at least one defensive possession a game. With our style of play even one posession that changes from a 30-yard drive to a three an out would be huge.

Plus, selfishly, it makes the whole in-stadium experience even better. What I love about Hilton is, when the stadium is rocking, I cannot think of a better place to watch basketball (particularly given my ISU lean). Trice is nice but I have experienced a better overall gameday experience at other stadiums.

Seeing how teams across the power conferences are struggling against G5 and FCS teams, getting to 3-0 without stress vs SEMO and Ohio is impressive.

Special teams are bad right now, and I’m sure like Baylor last year and the last few Iowa games this will either cost ISU a game or at least make it close when we have a huge yardage advantage.

But in each of the last three years our ST started off very poorly and got better as the season went on. Let’s hope that happens quickly this year and doesn’t cost us Ws.
If they're learning new systems, it makes sense to initially take a step back. Hope that is the case.

I DID notice that on one punt we brought the house--4 guys on one side. 5th man on opposite side then did have a block chance. Next time they changed it up. Did like the effort /strategy here.

Of all the stupid little mistakes, Jaylin got flagged I believe for not coming set as he was coming in motion across the formation before Hunter hit him for like a 20 yard gain. Was this a bad call or did Jaylin screw up? I haven’t watched the game back.

It was the correct call. He started moving towards the line of scrimmage before the ball was snapped

I’d hate to lose him, but does anybody else think Cook probably moves on after this season? Like to FCS or G5 or somewhere?
I hope not. I know we can’t judge a book by his cover but there’s no getting past that Rocco is not the biggest guy out there. I think it’s a good idea to have some good depth.
Cook to me looked better then Rocco in the backup role during the game. If needed do you think we see him as the number 2 guy? Rocco, I assume, will eventually pass him but I would like to see Cook stick around for awhile. Maybe even next year yet. Good to see the depth is there. Cook could also be the clear starter at UNI right now I would think.

Does anyone have a link for a replay of the game? I wasn't able to catch it live and want to see more than the highlights.

After re-watching the game, I thought Dekkers recovered his own fumble, lying on it/laying his chest on it? It was taken away from him before the ref shows up and whistle was blown.
He did, and was laying on it. Guy jammed his hand in there and ripped it out. It was a bad call, because at that point he was down, with possession.

Our punt and field goal units terrify me. Decker looks great but needs more experience. Cook looked like the better backup.

Easy call on Noel. Clearly going forward on the snap.
