I am not a huge Buckeye hater either (even though they are one of the biggest cheating programs in the nation). But how can a team be rated #1 when they have only beaten 1 ranked team (Tenn) all year?!?!

To top that off they got beat by 26 to Florida and the Gators have the same record. I just don't see how a team can be on top when they have been beating up on cupcakes to get there. Teams like NC, Florida, Wisconsin, Kansas, have won enough quality games to make a case. Ohio St has not

They have three losses (UNC, Florida and Wisconsin) all to top 5 teams.

No one else can make that claim.

Wisconsin should probably be #1, as they only have 2 losses and have beated OSU, but it really doesn't matter anyway.

That is what makes March Madness great. They are going to get "upset" along the way.

They got killed by Florida. Killed. I don't care who they LOSE to. It is about who you beat!! Which in Ohio St's case is nobody.

Unlike football, rankings don't mean much in colllege hoops. The one thing to OSU's credit is they ALMOST beat UNC without Oden. That would be pretty tough.

Maybe it is just my hatred for the Big 10 here, but I see this as the media once again giving a Big 10 team way to much credit. You have to earn a #1 ranking. Heck even a top 5 ranking and Ohio St has not done that. The media is so high and mighty over their fresmen and how it is the best class ever. I just don't see it. They are good but how are they any better than Texas class, or UNC's, or Kansas last year?

Almost wins don't count for anything. Look at our game against KU. If Ohio St almost wins the big games but don't, then turn around and beat Northwestern and Penn St are they #1. I dont think so

That Florida game was how long ago? 12/23 and Oden was not nearly as healthy as he was back then. Florida just lost to 18-8 Vanderbilt, what did you expect, they'd stay number 1? OSU RPI is also #3 to Florida's #7 and their SOS is 22 spots higher as well.

Who cares which team is #1 at this point? They all still have to play games and earn seedings.

I think OSU is deserving. So are a few other teams. When you get that high - top 5ish - in basketball - it's tough to determine a clear #1.

The final weeks and conference tournaments will help sort that out.

On a March Madness note - I'd love to see OSU, Wisconsin, Kansas and A&M in the final 4. It will never happen - but what a set of 3 heavyweight battles that would be.

I still think A&M is the best team. 2 of their losses came to highly ranked UCLA and LSU. The other two, they were nipped by Tech (by 2 points in each game) twice.

I wouldn't want to be the opposition if A&M is down by 2 or 3 and needs a 3 point shot to win/tie - seeing Law headed down the floor.

Once again I don't care who they lost to or when. All that matters is who you beat. Sure Ohio St's RPI is #3 but that is b/c they have played 3 quality out of conference teams. And LOST to all of them. You have to beat somebody to earn that recognition. They beat Penn St by 2 last week. Penn St would get smoked by Vandy.

I know rankings don't matter, I just find it funny how the Big 10 has the 1 and 2 teams in the country and nobody else is ranked. I wonder why that is. Hmmmm maybe b/c they don't play anyone else. I do think Wisconsin is deserving a high ranking. They have had some big wins.

It's very simple: when teams ahead of them have lost, they've won. They got their losses out of the way early, and other teams are losing later. To me, the polls don't even convey who the best teams are in order. It's just a small factor.

Now that I look at ESPN, looks like Wisconsin will lose and drop a few spots.

isconsin just lost their thoird game and if they beat OSU, Florida will be back. The NCAA should be wide open for any of top 8 to win this year

I've wondered why OSU and Wisconsin have been ranked so high all year. I've seen both of them play and yes they're good, but they sure don't look dominant enough to be 1 & 2?

Fact of the matter is, I think there's a lot of parity out of there this year.

Hey the Big Dance is coming in a few weeks. We'll know then who really has the goods....

Big part of who gets in the dance and where you are seeded how you finish the season out. So far OSU is finishing the season much stronger than it started it and much of this is due to Oden being more healthy and their young guys like Conley developing.

Some may think they don't deserve to be #1 but come tourney time I don't want to be the team hoping I have a guy that can at least slow Oden down some. Same with Texas and Durant. The Augustin kid is really playing well to compliment Durant, that is another tandem I would have nightmares trying to match up against.

Ohio St is finishing well b/c they are playing Nortwestern and Penn St! I don't consider a 2 point win against Penn St to be considered a good victory.

Also I think Texas is the 3rd best team in the conference. They may have the most talented players but with Barnes as a coach, they will be lucky to make it to the sweet 16. He just continues to get outcoached. Doesn't coach tough D. With that being said I hope I am wrong and Texas makes the final four. The more Durant I can watch the better

Rick's teams kind of remind me of Johny Orr's ISU teams. Run and gun and so so defense. ISU really didn't know what a good defensive team was until Tim Floyd came into town.

I'm not a Rick Barnes fan either, but he may have the talent to overcome his shortcomings. Man the guy can recruit!

So if KU's #1, who do you have as #2?
