I'll give you one shining example of why flashy new uniforms don't mean crap when it comes to recruiting.

Kansas.

Anybody else see those horrific red things they wore against Texas? Not to mention the blue abominations they wore last week. How does their budget afford all those different shiny helmets? Oh, but I'm sure 4 and 5 star talent will be falling all over themselves to go to Lawrence and wear those sweet, sweet threads.

See also: Indiana; Syracuse.

Win some games on national TV. Win some bowls. Get some national notice. Prove you can get players into the NFL. Trust me, it doesn't matter if you play in striped pajamas and leather helmets, you will get good recruits.

You said one example, then gave 2 examples neither of which had anything to do with your original point. Later you said you can wear anything you want and get recruits. Which is it man? I give your post a D+.

Some lack of reading comprehension in this. Let me break it down.

Argument (from other): Flashy new uniforms assist in recruiting.

Rebuttal (from KidSilverhair): Wrong. I will provide evidence my disagreement by example: Kansas. In fact, I will provide two further examples: Indiana and Syracuse. Implied by providing these examples in the context of my post is the idea that these three schools all use "flashy new uniforms," but have not seen an increase in success that would be expected were there a strong correlation between "flashy new uniforms" and recruiting prowess. To sum up, I conclude that there is no link between uniforms and recruiting success, but rather I propose the simple idea that only winning begets winning. Uniforms changes, in the context of winning football games, are irrelevant.

Hope that helps homie

We don't need any flashy, chromed Oregon-esque uniforms, we just need a sharp looking home/away uniform combo along with maybe some sort of yellow alternate uniform (once again, not #yoloswag flashy, just a different color scheme) we could wear once a season. Our jersey/pants combination is one of the ugliest in the power 5 conference, IMO.

Is USC's also one of the ugliest?

Funny how the teams that win are consistently ranked near the top for uniform quality. Seems like winning makes you look good.

With that said... It is a true shame that we abandoned the cardinal pants on our road uniforms. That was a tremendous look. I would love to see that again with the matte helmets - would be outstanding.

if they are ugly wouldnt we want so flashy uni's? I wouldnt mind some all white jerseys or a different helmet(not the matte red). Not many colors look good with yellow so we might as well go back to red and blue.

And Kansas State is 32-11 in the same time span while wearing those purple outfits patterned after the Dallas Cowboys uniforms of the 70s. Sorry Okie, your success on the football field has nothing to do with your wacko uniforms. Iowa State has enough problems without you bad-mouthing their traditional uniforms. You put garbage in a stylish uniform like KU does and you still get garbage results.
