Oklahoma State with the major at 285. Lose the dual 21-19.

I saw some opportunity there, but most likely not nearly enough.

I think Parker can challenge Heil. Can’t wait to see that one.

Watching Oklahoma State take on Missouri right now.

- Piccininni won by injury default
- Brock won a decision...was put in real, real trouble in the 2nd. Erneste had a TIGHT spladle...just couldn’t finish it and lost in the 3rd
- Heil just got his ass kicked by Eierman. Pinned in the 2nd. Was down pretty big when it happened too
- Currently Lewallen/Leeth
Wow, I wonder what's happened to Heil. He's been invincible for two or three years. Now, no more.

I’m not real sure but I have a couple theories.

- he looks like he’s sucking wind this year. Wonder if he’s in shape/now struggling with the weight

- his style sucks. He’s been “dominant”, but has never shown a lot of offense. He’s won defensively. The sport, in my opinion, is getting more athletic. At his weight, these dudes have been looking at him as the guy to beat for a while, so they’ve been studying. I think his style has caught up to him. They did just institute a new rule for this year hat is being referred to as “The Heil Rule” too

I’m not kidding you, he got worked tonight.

EDIT: The Heil Rule

"When in the neutral position, the referee will verbally announce a danger signal to any wrestler who becomes stationary on his back with his shoulders at an angle of 90 degrees or less to the mat surface. The verbal announcement will be followed by an audible three-count. If the referee reaches the third count and the wrestler is still on his back within the 90-degree angle, control will be considered to have been established and a takedown will be awarded."

Track wrestling shows today's lineups already (Cyclone TV never seems to think this is important). I see Okla State's regular at 174 is out (I think he was hurt in his last match) so perhaps an opportunity for us there we didn't have before. The optimist in me thinks we could also get wins at 149, 157, 184, and Hwt.

125
Nicholas Piccininni (Oklahoma State) vs. Sinjin Briggs (Iowa State)
133
Kaid Brock (Oklahoma State) vs. Markus Simmons (Iowa State)
141
Dean Heil (Oklahoma State) vs. Ian Parker (Iowa State)
149
Boo Lewallen (Oklahoma State) vs. Jarrett Degen (Iowa State)
157
Jonce Blaylock (Oklahoma State) vs. Chase Straw (Iowa State)
165
Chandler Rogers (Oklahoma State) vs. Brady Jennings (Iowa State)
174
Hestin Lamons (Oklahoma State) vs. Daniel Bush (Iowa State)
184
Keegan Moore (Oklahoma State) vs. Dane Pestano (Iowa State)
197
Preston Weigel (Oklahoma State) vs. Samuel Colbray (Iowa State)
285
Derek White (Oklahoma State) vs. Marcus Harrington (Iowa State)

It looked like a freshman mistake was going to cost him. It was a scoreless first period and in the 2nd period it took him 1:07 to get out. So third period he was up 1-0 and let Heil out in only six seconds, allowing him to keep RT. But it ended up not mattering.

His TD was also a good example of the new rule about back exposure in scrambles. He had Heil in a spot where last year Heil would have been able to hold on like a backpack and wait for a stalemate. But with the new rule he had to either bail or give up backpoints.

I know Colbray got beat, but it seems like the light is finally turning on for him. He was the aggressor in the 3rd period and kept firing off shots. Just couldn’t get out on bottom. Earlier this year, that would’ve been a match he gets majored or worse
Agreed, Colbray looked much improved from the beginning of the year. His confidence is a lot higher right now and he was in the fight the whole time. Love seeing the improvement from him. Good work IAN PARKER! Degen got hosed. Harrington just got ridden like a mule.

Didn't care for that stall call. Went our way but the OU kid was just reacting and happened to be on the edge
Right or wrong, I think the point is that you're never supposed to "just happen" to be on the edge. You're responsible for staying inbounds.

It could be chalked up to habit or karma as none of the OU guys impressed me much with their aggressiveness. That's part of what made the loss frustrating. All I know if that I'd be pissed if one of our guys lost on that call.
