We've all bagged on the OL for several years, but the last half of this year these boys have really turned into a very good unit. We ran all over the conference's best rushing defense tonight. They played well against a UT front 7 that will always be very talented. They destroyed a KSU defense who, while not always talented, is always very fundamentally sound and often "high motor" guys. We are getting the best OL play right now that we've seen in a long time in Ames. Hell of a job, boys!

You said it man. And how about some love for coach Jeff Myers? I was skeptical of the hire for OL coach two years ago but he has done a marvelous job.

Colin Newell, Darrell Simmons, Jake Remsburg, and Sean Foster have been absolute badasses this year. Schweiger too

To think we have done this all without Downing is just wild and very exciting for the future.

The play where Kene ran 48 yards and actually was NOT TOUCHED? Just textbook stuff in how to run block.

Did I see Ramos in at the end of the game? I haven't really heard what's going on with Ramos and Downing lately

I know he got in against KU a couple weeks ago. Not sure if he is still recovering, or if the line is playing so well they don't want to mess with it. Downing is still out.

Ramos getting back into game shape..but Remsburg has solidified that RT spot for now.

This OL next year is going to be big time.

Certainly could understand Foster not returning but he's really only played this year mostly...idk maybe he can make a camp? if so then go for it but if feedback is not a shot then why not give it one more year.

Plus didn't he start most of his freshman year? He was really bad then. Great to see how much he has improved!

And pretty much this entire OL is coming back next year minus Foster unless he chooses to take advantage of the eligibility freeze. He is the only senior on the 2 deep. If you look at what this staff did in the first couple years they focused on signing quality players at TE and OL and the depth has really shown this season. I can't remember an ISU team in recent memory that had the talent and depth that this team does on both sides of the ball in the trenches.

Had a Hawkeye friend of mine use 1 of my tickets today and he's already been to a couple ISU games this year already and he commented just how well balanced this team looks on both sides of the ball. Play after play he was nudging me and telling me how impressed by how no matter the situation ISU keeps the defense on their heels wondering if we are going to run or throw it because we pick up good chunks of yards either way with all the options we have to use. Also made note that seemed like we were in the backfield a lot on defense and even if we didn't get a sack we broke up their play and made it tough for them to sustain drives.

Looking back over the last few months I think this is probably the most impressive stretch of games we have played that I have ever seen and we are headed to Dallas with a ton of confidence and playing our best football of the year. I'm really excited to see how this team finishes the season and when you look at this roster, just like Herbstreit mentioned on gameday today Campbell has built this program where it is next man in and we aren't relying on a big recruiting class to bust out, this program is built to sustain this level of success now. We lose some key pieces on defense but still have a lot of guys on the 2 deep that have played this year that should be able to step in. On offense we don't lose much so there is no reason why next year can't be special too.

I don't think I've ever seen a football team... ever... get this much better over the course of the season. UL was a rickety start, but they have looked like they could play even with anybody in the country after the Baylor first half.

Thanks OP. I have criticized our O line play last couple of years. The contrast this year is amazing. I realize Breece is amazing but what we’re seeing isn’t happening without some really good play from the boys up front

Yes and so glad that when we have one of the best running backs ever here, we have an OL that allows the rb to look that much better!

CMC said that Sean would be finishing his Masters in the Spring.

I’m not going to attempt to figure out how that might factor into his decision. Everyone has their own priorities.

Thank you for starting this thread. It was impressive to see the time that brock had again the Top defense in the Big 12. I have feeling we are going to Crush OU. Like it is going to be a legendary beat down for all the decades they ran up the score.

Boys up front, take a bow. This board/including me has roasted you for years. We are so proud of your effort, your ability to learn techniques and most of all your nasty attitude in which you finish the blocks. Job well done.
