Something smells with this. This guy has devoted four full years to ISU football and after the first week of the fifth year he just leaves? I mean, if something really bad is happening at home I can see it but still, that's a lot of hard work and sweat to toss to the side.

Generally when they say "personal" reasons it means he's got a problem with the program, otherwise if it was something family related they say that so the player doesn't get drug through the mud.

wow. Not sure if I've ever seen a starter leave a program in the middle of a season by his own choice before.

Didn't Joe Kane, QB for the ESU Timberwolves leave by his own choice his senior season? He came back though, so maybe Gannon will too........

Pure speculation but I'm guessing the coaches got after the guys pretty good this week. Maybe he couldn't handle that.

In this situation I think the default assumption should be "something really crappy happened in his personal life" not "he's a *****"

Edit: hahhaha. That's what I get for not assuming the worst.

Exactly. The way this was released makes it pretty clear there's a conflict with the coaches/program.
