I have a 6 year old 60" Vizio that has been great, especially for the price. Only complaint is sound quality, unless something has improved be prepared to pay for a decent sound bar/speaker system.

I think that's pretty much how it goes across the board. I haven't used TV sound in well over a decade.

If you have the ability to discern and appreciate the visual advantages, yes. But, if you're just trying to keep up with the Jones', save your money. In all honesty, most content (san live sports), lacks the detail to separate the need for higher definition. But, again, for that content which has the visual detail, OLED is awesome.

I'm pretty sure any OLED TV consumers can buy is built with an LG panel.

Hence the competition to push alternatives to OLED.

I bought both an LG LED for the living room and an OLED for the basement. The LED is not bad, great picture quality, brightness, etc. However, the side lighting it horrible. Any sort of movie/show in widescreen will show you exactly where the backlighting LED's are firing as you can see the light being projected from the sides. The OLED is bloody brilliant. I had the lights off to watch Dune last week and you couldn't even notice the outline of the TV. It was just the picture. Oh, and being able to watch a couple ISU games on the 4k Fox channel has been really nice this year too!
