You say this like Fred is some transfer player that came and left and not someone who was raised in Ames, in and around ISU for most of his life as an ISU fan. It's neat that you spent a few years here though.

Whoa, that wasn't at all what I meant. My first paragraph was meant to describe our fan base and why people take Fred leaving on a personal level. It feels like a lot of fans are finding it hard to view Fred coaching somewhere else as a career move (or something that's best for his family) versus an open sleight against ISU.

Fred left for the NBA and did poorly. We hired a new coach in Prohm who is doing pretty good. I used to absolutely hate Nebraska, but they aren't in our conference anymore so I couldn't care less who they hire. The guy is looking for a job obviously and I'd bet about anything it won't be long term.

I've got nothing against Fred. He's a big boy and can do what he wants for himself and his family.

But if he goes to Nebraska, **** him. That's not anything personal. That's what i'd say about any coach that went to Nebraska, because **** Nebraska. Hope he wins about 2 games a year, against Iowa, and that's it.

Agree, except I could actually see myself rooting for Iowa to beat Nebraska, which is unprecedented territory for me. I wouldn't be able to say for sure until the match up actually happened.

I hope Nebraska loses every game they ever play in every sport. It's like some of you missed 2010 altogether. Nebraska can burn in Hell forever.

It really isn't about Fred. As long as he's at Nebraska, I want him to fail. Not because of him, but because of his employer.

If he goes somewhere whose interests aren't opposed to ISU's, I'll root for him again.

As a fellow Cyclone I still like Fred, and will be happy for him that he’s landed on his feet.

That doesn’t mean I should feel obligated to root for him at Nebraska.

Why people continue to obsess about Hoiberg is beyond me. The guy hasn't coached here in four years. I hope he gets the Nebraska job and kicks Iowa's ass a few times a year.

This seems about right. He doesn't owe ISU anything, and he's not property of Ames. If he wants to work and the Nebraska job is his best option, I wish him luck. It's certainly not going to make me a Husker fan. I'm skeptical that his second go-round as a college coach will go as well as his first turn but we'll see.
