Yes, a step forward in commercial popularity. Definitely a huge and much bigger hit album. But maybe a step back in "artistic" merit IMHO.

We agree. I guess I felt like I just had to mention my love of COTC.

Crime of the Century is a great album, certainly.

But notice I said "greatest hits" -- implying Breakfast in America has a majority of their major pop hits -- and not "the only good album they have, the only one that is worth listening to."

CotC and BiA are two all-timers, to me, but the latter is much better remembered.
