Is there a team in the country getting more legs out of beating up on 2 really poor teams and losing on the road?

No. 17 Baylor Bears (2-1) at Iowa State Cyclones (3-0) [4 p.m.]
If the spread (Iowa State -2.5 at last check) and/or recent history is any indication, this should be a nail-biter.
The past three Baylor-Iowa State games were decided by one possession, twice with a critical scoring play in the final 30 seconds of the fourth quarter. And early returns suggest this should be quite the duel between defenses that are way better than we've come to expect from the Big 12.
If it comes down to which defense is more on point, I'll take the one that has been more opportunistic (Iowa State has eight takeaways to Baylor's two), the one that has yet to allow an opponent to score multiple touchdowns in a game and the one with home-field advantage. Matt Campbell's Cyclones were supposed to be a Top 10 team last season, but better late than never.
Prediction: Iowa State 21, Baylor 17

I just want us to get out to a fast start and put the pressure on Baylor. It feels like we have played from behind in this one every single year.
I don't think you understand what an analyst can or cannot do.
Per NCAA rules, analysts are not allowed to directly coach or instruct players. While the analyst might be studying film, devising strategies, and working in conjuncture with an on-field coach, they don't have the same latitude coaches and coordinators have when it comes to working with players. The end result is the same person that's failed with recruiting for and instructing those groups on the field is still doing so.
Is it a step in the right direction? Probably. Is it what was needed given the problems we've had on those units for years? Unfortunately, no.
Their capacity is less than 80% of JTS and it's the first time they haven't been an absolute joke for a very long time. Everyone wants to jump on the Kansas bandwagon down in Lawrence now. Our game will likely sell out or come very close to it so everything is going to be okay.
If we consistently kick touchbacks, avoid shanked punts, allow 1 decent return or less (no TD...say 15-25 yard return), and avoid other horrendous miscues on STs I think we win. I want to see that more than anything.
Elsewhere I'd like to see Remsburg assimilate and contribute to the OL controlling the line of scrimmage, and find more ways to get McDonald some 1 v 1 matchups. I would wanted to say I'd like to see some more shots down the field, but with 25 mph gusts that's not going to be as likely.
I think the offense will get yards, but they will need convert in the redzone and avoid the TOs. Key on defense is making tackles at the line of scrimmage (too many whiffed tackles last week by the secondary in particular) to keep their run game from reaching the 2nd level. Getting off the field on 3rd and long will also be big. We need to get pressure on the QB in obvious throwing situations. At times that has been an Achilles heel.
Yeah, that game last year was an absolute mess for our defense that we got into trouble way too early. Good thing it isn't going to be 120 degrees on our sideline for 3/4 of the game like it was three years ago. With this one being in Ames, I like our chances and think we are energized early and come out firing.

They haven't been relevant in years and for the first time are fielding a team/staff with some competency. Glad their fans are getting behind them and being supportive. Well deserved.
Opinion on the "Hype" for this week and this team:
The team is 3-0 with an opportunity to become 4-0 and having wins at Iowa and vs a top 20 team in Baylor. Yet everything still feels quiet.
I have been a bit intrigued as to why the so called 'hype' for this game and team in general has been a bit subdued recently and here's what I came up with.
- This season's expectations were lower than the past couple years and there are several new faces/young guys on this team that many thought (and still may think) are unproven or a question mark.
- Iowa's Offense. Even with the Cylones going into Kinnick and beating Iowa up and down the field the majority of 'football talk' locally has been dominated by the Iowa offense... or lack there of. People's (Iowa fans) anger and disgust for that team and that side of the ball has outweighed the credit and optimism this Iowa State should be getting.
- Consistency within the program. I get that this is CMCs best start with a team but the Cyclones have really had a ton of success in the past several years and this may be starting to feel like "business as usual" for some fans - which isn't a bad thing.
With all that said, this is clearly where CMC thrives and likes being. All in all, a win this week puts the Cyclones in the drivers seat for a potential 6-0 start and one of the better seasons in ISU history.

It looks like we are down to about 500ish tickets left outside resales, by just roughly estimating.
I think the local and national media are responsible for "hype." None of these people expected ISU to be decent this year, and I think that is still the case among these folks. Agree on Matt Campbell favoring these circumstances as opposed to being the darlings of college football...
