Three-and-outs and interceptions lost us the Baylor game. It's really that simple.

There was also some awful officiating but it was just incompetence rather than a Grand Baylor Conspiracy like some people are going off about without realizing how insane it sounds.

Edit: The people who have Dumb'd this post are reaching for the keyboard through their tinfoil hats. Message boards attract people from the entire Bell curve of intelligence after all.

Probably not a conspiracy but it would be nice to know why
were incompetent officials assigned and why did all of the incompetent calls go one way

I watched a lot of the Duke game, they have a very creative run scheme. They sell fakes, and misdirection very well. We don't do much of that at all, we do some play action, but sometimes we half @ss the fake.

Dekkers is probably going to light up the KU pass defense. The key is the ISU defense being disciplined enough to stay home against some of the crazy stuff that KU runs.
Dekkers has experience at KU even throwing a TD in the game in 2020! This time, he'll be like: "Where did all of these Jayhawk fans come from!" :)

Ya, refs just aren’t very good at their jobs. Just imagine working with the impunity at your jobs that refs have. No consequences, no reckoning or explanations required or given to anyone or anything. The worst thing that happens is you get demoted the next season to doing “less big” Big 12 games after a “performance review”.

They looked pretty locked in fundamentally.

Hopefully ISU turns some sort of corner this week to tighten things up.

Kansas hasn't played a good defense yet, so that'll be a test of how solid they are. But they will get points.

Their defense is bad, so we should be able to set the pace. We just have to protect the ball better than we've been doing.
This is a game where we could get Hutchinson 100 yards+ and another receiver a ton of production.

Let's throw down the field to Noel more, he can get open.

The Chicago Bears eked out win #2 today at home vs Houston. Why do I mention that?
In the AP write up, I found the following:

Khalil Herbert ran for a career-high 157 yards and two touchdowns. And Chicago rushed for 281 yards even though top running back David Montgomery exited in the early going with knee and ankle injuries.

Yes, it sucks that David Montgomery was banged up. But why mention it on the KU thread?

Khalil Herbert played 3 years at Kansas before transferring to VT for his senior year. It was a good move for him, since he got noticed, and is now in the NFL. And, if Montgomery is out for an extended time, David will be replaced by a player from Kansas. While David has been compared favorably to the great Gale Sayers, also from Kansas, Khalil actually played at Kansas. ... How does this unfold on Kansas week. Coincidence? ... Or are the football gods conspiring against us?

The Cyclones will win and let Kansas know they're not quite ready for prime time.

Iowa State 31 Kansas 21
This is a gut check game for a few fronts:

- Defensive line: they somewhat got owned by Baylor. Not many pressures at all, not much for sack production minus the Orien Vance play. In order to beat KU we have to create more pressures, sacks, and an uncomfortable pocket for the Ku QB. Also, time to get back into the turnover column.
- Dekkers: how quickly can he shake off a loss? Big game for his ability to bounce back mentally
- WR room: Can Dmitiri Stanley continue to ascend? He looked good last week as did Noel. We need other receivers to step up when teams double Hutchinson. The deep post by Stanley was a pretty play and we need more and more of that. Stretch the field.
- O line: they need to protect Hunter. I'm not sold on the D line of Ku.
