Ban? Explain....

Edit...NVM...read the article.

Yeah, no way he gets to play if he comes to ISU. The NCAA would find some reason to hose us.

UConn is facing a ban on post season play next year (unless the appeal turns over the decision). The NCAA has some kind of rule which states (something like): if you are a senior on a team facing a post season ban, you may transfer and play immediately.

If it's a rule that we can point at and not "appeal" I'm all for it.

I really like the way that our future players have taken to twitter today. The are all giving shout outs to each other and the future of the Cyclone basketball program and reaching out to possible transfers and perspective players. Loving the team unity.

Unconn is banned from post season play next year.

Uconn is gonna fight the ban though. When will the legal proceedings be finalized? Can we afford to sit around and wait for that to play out? Someone mentioned this may affect if he is eligible this year or has to sit out a year. I will take him if he is eligible immediately, if he has to sit a year, not sure if that would be worth it.

That's the dilemma for prospective teams

If Calhoun retires and you see another transfer or two, you can pretty much be assured that they are going to be banned. Not to mention, they may just decide next year is the best year for them to take their lumps.

Yeah that is true. Just hope this plays out soon. I would hate to miss out on Pelle or Lockett, and then Oriakhi end up having to sit a year.

Pelle is probably the longest shot for a number of reasons. I wouldn't totally be surprised if we somehow got Oriakhi and Lockett. But that is nothing more than blind confidence in Hoiberg frankly.

What are the NCAA rules on that? Can players at a school contact prospects directly? And is twitter considered "contact"?

I believe once the transfer announces they are leaving it is fine. It is a violation to contact them prior to this. I believe anyway someone can correct me if I am wrong. However, Oriakhi had announced his plans to transfer and leave UCONN prior to the guys tweeting to him

Hopefully Oriakhi isn't dead...

I know this has been said many times over the past two years, but it's worth repeating. It is so refreshing to hear Iowa State talked about as a place where talented players want to come play.

In fairness, we haven't really head this from any of the players being discussed, but if a courtship begins or has begun, it will be nice to be in the mix
