I own an Alexa and a dot and this rang a bell for me.

I have made a video on my phone and I used Alexa word in it with the name of a song. It activates every time.

I have activated it by just playing other Spotify music off my computer.

I have been in another room, and I activate it by mistake. Almost like having a spouse when you start asking it questions.

No crazy Alexa stories yet, but I will say that Alexa + Amazon Music is awesome. It's Dance Party USA in our house every evening. The kids just love it.

After watching the Google home commercial my wife asked our dot "Alexa, what sound does a whale make?" Her reply was "Splash". LOL

I use alexa to control the thermostat when my phone isnt handy. She also controls lighting in multiple rooms and outdoors. Very slick. "Alexa, turn on the backyard lights" Boom, lights on. "alexa turn down the bedroom lights to 35%" She dims the lights for sexy time.....ok, no sexy time, but she dims the lights which is cool. My wife loves the pandora integration for her playlists.

Yeah, integrating the Echo with other home automation devices results in a pretty great experience. We have lights and our TV/enterntainment system looped in. Walking into the house and turning on the lights and tuning the TV to ESPN (or whatever) without touching a single switch or remote is fantastic.
