It's interesting on how you guys focus so hard on the dance. I'm kind of the opposite (in more ways than one).

How the season plays out is more important to me than the NCAA tournament, which for me is just dressing on the season's cake. I want my team to finish on top the B12 or as near as possible, and get a high, or is it low, seed.

The B12 tournament is meaningless, actually. But "the dance" is just fun, one and done, all about luck of the draw, and mostly guard play. Yes, all that but not as critical as that next conference game and how the team finishes in the B12.

I'm sure this will generate some dumbs, but I don't care. It's how I feel. I love league play. The dance is just entertaining.
We tied Kansas for first in the Big 12 regular season standings. I’m so happy because that’s all that matters!

I dumbed your post because they had 2 titles just in the last decade with Bruce Weber of all coaches. We've went through 5 coaches and many great teams in the last 22 years and still only 12-6 and 11-7 type finishes.
So they have 2, just like us… got it.

@CloneLawman

There isn't a thread @jereseib can't make about our lack of Big 12 titles.
And it's fricking weird. He even did a bizarre post about what other fanbases outside of KU and KState think about the Big 12 regular season title and why they don't care. The one for Baylor was something like "We would rather focus on national championships and Final Fours" Ummmm yeah no **** give me those over 10 straight Big 12 titles. Baylor won a ******* national championship. I would trade every conference title ever won in all of our sports combined for one football or basketball national championship.

Doesn’t every basketball thread ultimately devolve into a personal pissing match at some point?

Yes, but I think your description is incomplete.

Really all basketball threads degenerate into a pissing match between one poster in particular and, well, about everybody else.

The ignore feature is a useful thing.

Hopefully things work out for Cortes.

I remember my stress in college when my mother first got breast cancer. Keeping up with classes and work was draining and I wasn’t devoting hours to intercollegiate basketball. I have no idea what his problems are, but hope he’s ok. Same for Patrick McCaffery, at least he’s back on the court.

I just have a hard time agreeing with this. To me, it's kind of a combination. You win the regular season title, it's awesome, but if you lose in the first round of the NCAA it is somewhat tarnished. If you end up 5th and make the Sweet 16, it was a great season. Personally, if ISU isn't going to win the conference, I don't care if they end up 2nd or 6th as long as they do well in the big dance. No one remembers conference standings if you don't win...they remember what you do in the big tournament.
Winning the B12 is so much more important and valuable than anything but a Final 4 to my way of thinking.

Like with Fran's son, I hope this turns out fine for the Sooner player. I don't know much about him. Seems to be an off the bench dude. But I can see how a season, social media, expectations, etc. can wear on a youngster.

You know the reason Cortez is taking time off?
