Don't give in. Keep feeding him veggies, and you eat them, too, as role models. I've heard that it takes several tries and that a kid who won't eat carrots one day will gobble them up the next. Don't put cheese on them, either. Keep him away from junk, and do NOT use food as a reward. All of our fat cells are formed early in life, and after that they grow or deflate. " While 75% of obese children grow up to be obese adults, only 10% of those with a healthy weight do the same." Also, don't believe that crap about how the child will starve to death that you see on commercials. They are designed to make you spend your money on their crap. Give your kid a fighting chance to not be a blob his entire life.

One more comment about milk: when our daughter was young and using a bottle, we went from formula to whole milk, but only for a short while. We then went to 2% because we learned that was fine for her. Two % provided all the nutrients and less of the fat, and she didn't even notice the difference.

Remember also that foods are new to kids and our perceptions should be foisted on them. It's so easy to do with what we say about certain foods (Oh, look, here's some disgusting squash) and the faces (grimaces) we make while feeding or giving food to them. Purple potato? Heck yes, I want to eat one of those!

The whole milk does provide more calories though, which if the baby/toddler is a picky eater or just generally not a good eater they may still need. Although for most babies that aren't chubalubs they would probably benefit from the extra calories.

My daughter loves Cheetos and that 99 cent "juice" I buy from the convenience store. She also says thanks dad.

Update here:

At the time of posting we were also getting my son off the bottle and going to exclusively to sippy cups. Those who pegged too much milk as a reason he was too full to really eat more than the good stuff....looks like you were right.

My son also needed a few days to realize we weren't kidding about this no bottle stuff. So he was losing his comfort zone and his ability to easily "fill up" on formula/milk. Lots of crabbiness the last 5 days or so, probably because he was still hungry after eating not enough food at the table. We seemed to have some positive break throughs and he's figuring out he needs to fill up at the table. Last night he got his gut full on a lot of different things and in turn we got our happy boy back.
