Anyone have info on correlation of beating Iowa and making a bowl game? Over say the last 20 years. The road gets harder with an Iowa loss and I bet the numbers would show that.
The only year the Cyclones lost to Iowa and missed making a bowl game by one game was 2010 when Iowa beat Iowa State 35-7 and ISU finished the year 5-7.

Even then, the finger really can't be pointed at ISU losing to Iowa as costing the Cyclones a trip to a bowl game. There was the one-point overtime loss to Nebraska, or losing to a 5-7 Colorado team the following week or blowing a 4th quarter lead against Kansas State.

Any other year the Cyclones lost to Iowa and didn't make a bowl game that year, ISU's record fell two or more wins short of being bowl eligible (4-8, 3-9, etc.)

Don't see ISU beating OU, WV, KSU. Don't know why no one is mentioning TX as a possible win. They won big today, but San Jose State is pretty bad.

I agree completely....I think we can beat the Horns oh hellsbells...when the texas longhorns come to town lets, break those horns to pieces and blow'em out in a rout......

Need to win the next two. I think we have a shot at it. Texas looks beatable and they'll be coming off the game against USC. If we can win the next two, then it's just taking care of beating teams we should in Baylor, Kansas, and Tech.

Remaining games

@ Akron - Win
Texas - Win
@Oklahoma - Loss
Kansas - Win
@ TTech - Win
TCU - Win
@WVU - Loss
Ok State - Loss
@ Baylor - Win
@ KSU - Loss

Finishing 7-5. Take it to the bank.
Switch the TCU game and that's where I'd put it. People need to realize that even when we become a good team we will lose games. It sucks but it will happen. Iowa isn't a bad team. They will finish mid to upper mid pack of the B1G. We arguably were the better team. We are seeing massive improvement from where we were. It will take time but we will get there.

We are only 3 weeks in and OU is the only team I am counting on losing. I think we would really need things to break our way to pull wins against WVU and OSU but aside from them, every team is very beatable. I have my optimistic hat on.

We are Iowa State. We are used to (expect) a knee to the stones. That said, we're much better than we've been. WVU, KSU, TTU, UT are all winnable games (KU and BU will go our way). A few years ago the stars aligned and we upset the #2 team in the nation. If the stars align again for TCU, OSU or OU games we have a real chance at a special season. Many of the pieces are there.

Didn't get to watch the game, but this team is at least as salty as Vanderbilt. I still think 5-7 is where we land, but TCU and K-State better watch out. K-State is in a tough environment, but one of these days we'll win a close game against the kitties.

Getting four wins in the conference is going to be really hard. The Iowa lose really put a dent in our bowl chances.

Cowboys & Sooners & frogs impossible.
Seem to always lose to the Wildcats
Texas is very talented, compared to us.
Tech is a tose up
Baylor will be decent by the time we meet them.
Not going to beat WVU on the road.

2009, we beat NDSU, Kent state, nebby, Colorado, Army, and Baylor, then beat Minny in the insight bowl. It can be done, but the 9 conference games makes it tougher.

I am going with wins over KU, BU, TTU and TX to get to a bowl game. We will see how tough this team is in a week and a half and reassess from there.
