I get that. But I'm also going off how little, never, mentioned he is by CMC. It's on TOE level to me.

Again, that's just my read on it.

He did hire Rhoads era player as an assistant. And Hoodjer was originally on the Rhoads staff. Matt doesn't seem like one to hold a grudge. My guess is it is simply that Paul was sad/mad about the way things ended and hasn't been been around the program.

Absolutely no ill will for Paul. The dude loved ISU. He put us back together after Chiz tore us apart. I would welcome him back anytime.

I hope there is no hard feelings either way, but as others have said I am sure him still coaching is the main reason he is not around at all, and hasnt been honored etc.

Mac's involvement is mostly his choice, he is willing to be and wants to be, so the program embraces it. But you didnt see that when he was focused on coaching at a different program.

Paul I am sure is putting that focus on where he is currently coaching too.

Agree that CPR was just what we needed at the time. I think it is because he's still working but CMC does say that ISU was the laughing stock, rock bottom, coaching graveyard, etc. when his staff arrived, which may not help mend fences. When he's done coaching, I hope he comes back so that we can show him our appreciation.

Had an other world experience Sunday in a Home Depot in St Joe Mo. Needed assistance buying a shower stall door and the employee noticed my ISU hat & asked if I knew Paul Rhoades. Said I’d actually met him and was in attendance at the “I’m so Proud” win in Lincoln. The Home Depot guy said he was a college roommate and went on and on about what a great guy he is. Mentioned some permanent/memorial on campus with his name that is placed where the Chiefs hold their summer camp workouts (Mo Western). CPR pulled off some stunning upsets but found ways to lose games. His DC Wally ? was really good. Klein & Lazard have had great NFL careers. For whatever reason it didn’t work out & I doubt CPR is comfortable with Pollard yet.

I don't think Paul has any bad feelings about ISU. If you haven't watched this podcast yet it is a good one!

I didn't get a sense that there is any bad blood between him and ISU. I mentioned it earlier in this thread and CW has talked about this numerous of times too, the initial conference realignment really hurt our momentum and recruiting during Rhoads tenure. That alone probably was big part that set the events in motion to how things ended. I think most ISU fans wanted Rhoads to succeed, he was such a likable personality and his teams played hard. Not going to dwell on the past, Rhoads tenure also helped pave the way to get a coach like CMC to come here and have success. Without what Paul and Dan did here I'm not sure we would ever have got to where we are now, they both accomplished things here that many coaches before them failed to do.

Rhoads played at MO West I believe.

RE the last sentence, I'm guessing CPR knew he was going to be let go after how that KSU game finished.

I loved CPR just like I loved Coach Mac (I'm no JP apologist, I totally respect and appreciate what he was accomplished and brought to ISU!) but it was time to go a different direction with both of those coaches when it happened.

I don’t agree with the conference realignment excuse. Baylor, Kansas State, and Oklahoma State had to all navigate that too and they still had great teams in that 2010-2015 timeframe. Paul Rhoads had strengths but also many shortfalls as a coach. I do think back from 2009-2012 at his time in Ames as mostly positive, but November 2012 through the last game in Morgantown in 2015 was a total disaster.

Coach Mac had the gift of time after that went down. And he’s also just a way unique individual in a personal sense.
