what sad is that they (usc) can drop 31 pts on the ohio state and yet they (the media) can claim psu as the real deal after a 13-6 lamer at the horseshoe over that same team ... sure i understand that the pac 10 is down this year after high expectations for asu, cal, and oregon but you cant blame usc for their crappiness? ....

I remember reading an article where they were interviewing Pete Carroll about his success at USC, especially in recruiting. During their conversation, his phone rang. It was a 5-star quarterback who wanted to make sure things were still good between him and the program. They were trying to make the point (better than I just did) that the players were calling USC, and recruiting the school.

Seemed like a tough problem to have.

Such a dumb article...... If USC could've stopped Oregon States' RB, this article isn't even written.

I remember people writing similar sentiments about Duke - how they'd have all McDonald's All Americans riding the bench and how Duke was bad for College Basketball.

If you look at College Basketball now, so much talent is spread out to so many schools; it's pretty competitive and fun to watch. I think that everything will even out eventually as more recruits will start looking at other schools in the Pac-10.

Something about the Pac-10 is that Oregon State is on the upswing, Oregon seems to be injury plagued every year but have talent, so those are two decent programs. Washington State, Washington, UCLA, and Stanford haven't had a ton of stability for recruiting, but I'd expect that to improve.

Conferences go through cycles of being down and up. I don't think anyone has ever really thought the Pac-10 was the hardest conference, even 10-15 years ago. I also don't feel sorry for a NFL-junior team that is essentially a lock to the Rose Bowl....

Know how many programs DREAM of going to a bowl like the Rose Bowl??? A "bad" year for USC is playing in the best New Year's Day Bowl...

For USC being in the top 10 doesnt mean all that much. They have the talent to win the National Title every season so anything less is a dissapointment. And what the article points out is if they even loose 1 game they dont play the competition to jump back in the title game without others help. Its not like the big 12 of the sec where losing 1 game (like Florida) and having quality teams to beat will jump them back up

In a conference like the Pac-10, a team like USC shouldn't lose a single game. If they want the National Title, they gotta play like champs every game; that's what College Football is about...
