Wow unless injuries hit them hard they just won a world series.

There is a significant degree of luck involved, even taking out injuries, aces can have bad nights(see: Cliff Lee game 1 of 2010 WS) and mediocre pitchers can have good nights(see Jamie Moyer and Joe Blanton in 2008). Increased chances for sure but the "best team" fairly regularly doesn't win it all.

Also I pretty much hate every team in the northeast now, all they do is spend spend spend.

I love this. Not only does he not go to the Yankees but he's out of the American League. The Phils should cruise through the N.L. now. If the Red Sox do happen to face them in the Series, I'll take my chances with Beckett, Lester, Lackey, Buchholtz, Dice-K and a loaded lineup

Gotta hate teams whose success subsidizes the rest of the MLB owners. Wonder where all that luxury tax money goes.

I understand the hatred of teams like the Yankees, Red Sox, etc. Teams that "buy" their way to success. But they are trying to win and doing something toward that goal. I can respect that. I think what teams like the Pirates do should almost be criminal for the way they do absolutely nothing to improve their team.

This.

We should at least dominate the regular season with that rotation, but the bats really never came around at all last year. Losing Werth and now potentially Ibanez (being mentioned for a trade to decrease the payroll) doesn't bode well unless Rollins, Utley, Victorino and Howard can pick up their production.

Should be a fun year though:smile:

The Phillies will move Blanton and have Kendrick as their #5, who is certainly no slouch. I have heard rumblings that the Red Sox may have agreed to take Blanton and his salary if the Phillies will take Lee, just to stick it to the Yankees.
