Re: Please expalain the onside kick

So, those of you watching the game can confirm that it never touched an A&M player??? Are you sure they just didn't rule that it hit an ISU player first, because I thought it was pretty obvious that A&M touched it.

In my opinion, bogus call. One of a few.

I've seen the replay several times. It hit the A&M player. And even if it didn't, there was no view that made it clear enough to overrule the call on the field. It was a total ****up by the crew.

EDIT: I'm not trying to blame the loss on the officiating. *That* was a terrible call. But ISU lost the game.

They didn't call obvious holds and pass interference several times against A&M. I was 17 rows up and we all saw them.

If that didn't hit an A&M player then please explain to me how the ball changed direction. I was at the game and had a good vantage point and that ball hit an A&M player...period. We got hosed on that call and many others throughout the evening. Still doesn't account for the defense giving up 49 points :skeptical:

Consider that instead of ISU having the ball, A&M instead got the ball on our thirty-seven. Very much a huge swing play that could have meant the difference in the game.

BTW--the one guy who said it didn't touch (Chris) is from Houston. :wideeyed:

Re: Please expalain the onside kick

When you have the 2 worse teams in the conference going at it you are not going to get the best crew. You are going to get the 6th best crew. There were other missed calls, like when A&M broke the huddle and changed players and the block in the back, get a first down and lose no yards. The refs did not lose the game, if they wanted booos they got plenty of those.

It hit him in the facemask. I'm 100% sure of it.

Be that as it may, these were two horrible teams out there and we came out decidedly on the wrong end.

Re: Please expalain the onside kick

What the hell were you watching. It clearly hit J. Lane in the facemask and possibly his hand. There's no way that should have been overturned.

It was not overturned, the referee signalled A&M ball before the replay. The sidejudge may have signalled ISU first, but then they discussed it and the referee signalled A&M before going for the review. Thus, the ruling on the field was A&M ball. The replay didn't confirm the call, there was just not enough evidence (apparently) to overturn it.

How any other ref had a view to overturn what the side judge originally saw is amazing.

I agree with the intentional grounding, though. ARob was basically in the middle of the O-line, while AA clearly was tossing the ball out to the right before his receiver had time to get there.

Re: Please expalain the onside kick

They showed the TV reply about ten times and each time it clearly showed that no TAMU player touched the ball... they explained that the reply booth had communication probelms in relaying that information to the field judge to overturn the call.
Wrong #11 touched it and that is why he is reaching to get the ball and diving after the ball with a sence of urgentcy after it got by him. He knew he screwed up and ref bailed him out.

Re: Please expalain the onside kick

This is the world we live in, not getting calls. When most of the money the Big XII gets comes from south teams, they are going to try and keep them as happy as possible. We have to be very good to overcome this and even then it does not help. But you see this in all of the conferences in the country, except maybe the SEC, they will always try and help the teams that make them the most money. Same thing goes for the NCAA, as we all know by now.

Re: Please expalain the onside kick

The actual truth was, the ref thought that it was Lucca who had recovered the ball, and...

Re: Please expalain the onside kick

A few plays after the onside kick A&M had a play where they got 20 or so yards, but they had a block in the back called against them. The refs marked the penelty off from where the block happened which was past the end of the run. They bascially got a first down and got to keep they yards they gained on a play the commited a penelty on.

Which is correct penalty enforcement.

Im not trying to be a smartass but didnt the penalty help them gain some of those yards? Sorry tryign to learn something, I just figured the yards should start at the end of the play at the least.

Re: Please expalain the onside kick

Does it seem like we get the worst refs in the conference? It seems every game there are issues - not complaining about the calls but it just seems they are somewhat incompetent (sp?).

Yes we do get the worst refs in the conference. And that's not a rant or exaggeration, it's a fact. The most experience and highest rated Big XII crew would have been assigned to the OSU/Texas game today, the #2 crew would have been assigned to Texas Tech/Kansas....and so on, down the the worst crew which would have been assigned to the game between two 0-3 teams.

Do you have a link to this "fact" somewhere?

Theoretically, if the block in the back didn't occur, the run would have ended where teh block occurred. Thus, the got penalized 10 yards from where the run would have ended up had the penalty not occured.
