I like how the poll has 3 answers that could be used to say "see? This will work! People want this!" and 1 to point out how redundant, inefficient, and in the end, pretty dumb.

There is one way that I could see the thread being purposeful. If it was pinned, and locked so that only moderators could add to it. However, all that does is add one more job for someone else to do on a free site. Even then, you have just a few people being able to contribute to the thread. Or, you create even more work for moderators and having to clean up the mess you created if you let just anybody post in the thread because it will end up derailed because of people like me.

So add new mods like the OP, I'd be willing to update a closed thread as well with info as it is submitted. I've been here over 3 years and this will be my 6,439th post with 0 bans, I'll be a mod and update the closed thread.

Wow, somebody woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning. Never claimed it was a scientific poll. It's just collecting information to see if this is worth pursuing with the Admins. Chill, dude.

Nah. CF collective intelligence >>>>> Google

But how are you using the collective intelligence if discussion is prohibited? Otherwise it's just posting links to articles, which could be found much faster via Google and Twitter.

Coming here looking only for news is like going to the bakery because you want the ice cream they serve with their pie.

There are better ways to get what you are looking for.

Yeah, but he's right, the poll came across to me as trying to word the questions in a way to create justification when there is none. IMO questions 2 and 3 both are no votes and 4 should just be excluded entirely (which would mean an effective 'no' rate of 73% as of right now) but it seems to me that 2 could be twisted into 'they like it, count them as a yes' and 4 into 'that % isnt against this thread'

Twitter, CF, and Google don't accomplish what I would like to get from this type of thread. There's too much crap on all of those, and CW doesn't post every ISU related item out there. I follow some of the recruiting guys and players but there's so much stuff on there I don't want to read through, and the same is true of CF threads. If there was a closed thread or something on the CF front page that was just a link and short description, I see a lot of value added there. Have one person be allowed to update, and people can submit news or that person can compile them as they are posted. CF/Twitter doesn't show all information gathered into one spot without all the bs.

So add new mods like the OP, I'd be willing to update a closed thread as well with info as it is submitted. I've been here over 3 years and this will be my 6,439th post with 0 bans, I'll be a mod and update the closed thread.

Sounds like what you need to do is start your own website. Id rather my front page not be cluttered with a useless forum/thread. CF is not broke, so why are you two trying to fix it?

Big deal. You could just as easily spin it to say, "look, the no votes have more than any other category". Nothing is hidden here. We can all look at the results and draw our own conclusions.

By the way, the "I don't care" votes do matter in this case. If you want to know the percentage of people who really dislike the idea, you can't exclude the ones who don't care.

If you really want to get what you are looking for, start a thread asking people who they follow on Twitter. Until you do that you might as well get used to spiderman. Because there are a million different ways to find what you are looking for. Including the CF frontpage. But none of them are what you are trying to ask for. Also, your poll is hilariously bad and biased. Everything about this is bad and you should feel bad.

likecy and nate,

This idea is not a feasible idea to create on a public, free forum. Also, if your life is so busy that skimming thread titles or through a thread looking for links takes up too much of your valuable free time, why are you on a message board in the first place? And how is actually reading the article any quicker than skimming posts to get the gist of the information anyway? The only real place I can see misinterpretation/misrepresentation of articles are in the in-state rivals or politics forums.

If there's a poll that I don't feel strongly about, it isn't difficult for me to just not respond to the poll. I don't have President Mao standing behind me forcing me to respond.

Why make a new one when the means are already here? Another way for CF to expand with people willing to volunteer their time.

You have successfully shamed me for the sin of unscientific poll creation. I do feel bad. So very, very bad.

Some days I have the time, others I don't. Sometimes I go a week without getting on much when I'm busy; I'd like an easy way to see what I've missed in my time away.

There's too much bs on twitter and discussion threads to sort through, and CF front page doesn't cover everything.

So... people that want this don't have the time to read threads for information, but have the time to read the actual articles, and the time to devote to creating this thread. Got it. This entire idea makes complete logical sense now.
