Pollard backs Rhoads

His sticking to hires all has to do with the contracts he signed. Previously McDermott, then Rhoads, and now Hoiberg with the biggest of all.

And it's just as much our fault as it is Pollard's. Well, except McDermott. I have no idea what the point of that contract was.

Don't forget that JP offered Chizik an extension to his contract after going 5-19 (before he took the Auburn job). So he certainly is loyal with blind faith.

He gave Chizik a short extension because his 3 year contract was running out.

Don't turn this in to a "you're a bad fan if you don't support this program".

Im so sick of people trying to guilt others into showing up and spending thousands of dollars to support this program.

The fans at ISU are tremendous, a 5 or six win team that shows promise has 50,000+ people there every week. Try getting that at a real school.

Trying to guilt people into supporting the program is much more difficult and will result in resentment and apathy, why not just win?

We gave McCarney 11 years and want to give Paul more time too. Nobody likes losing and the trend the last few years is down but haven't injuries really hurt us lately? Everyone plays through injuries but haven't they been excessive the last 2 years?

"It's a place that you've got to have a chip on your shoulder and you've got to try to do something that others maybe are afraid to do or couldn't do or don't want to try to do," Pollard said on the show.

Really, JP, what innovative different things are we trying to do right now?

Seems like we are just trying to imitate the rest of the Big 12 with lower rated players.

You nailed it. If there are any innovative things being done, they are extremely well hidden and the results are being kept top secret.

Fair. But the fans that are giving up hope shouldn't post on every thread that we are a dumpster fire and work to convince others they are right.
At the end of each year every school's AD and coach evaluate the program and either jointly or independently make decisions on what is to be done. Allow that to happen and then determine how you will go forward. Quietly.

Same boat here. JP has been awesome.
This is potentially one of those career moves that really backfire. You've got to be careful who you're that loyal to professionally.

Honestly, do you really expect Jamie to come out and say "well this trainwreck isn't heading in the right direction but I can't afford to pony up $5+ mil to fire Rhoads. Maybe next year unless Rhoads turns it around, but definitely not this year."??

Of course Pollard is going to support Rhoads...all ADs support their coach. Right up until they fire them. Pollard knows we'll be replacing a D-coordinator (at a minimum) and he isn't going to hurt Rhoads' ability to bring in a quality guy basically on a one-year option.

I know that argument has been "explained" many times here, but I'm not sure we have $4 million to spend next year. That is 25% of our football budget in a year. Sure, the balance sheet might start to tip in that favor next year IF all these people who claim to stop buying tickets and donating actually do. But after the core season ticket holders, we aren't really charging much to get in to a game as it is.

$4 million = 16,000 full priced season ticket holders. Start counting.

Plus, don't you have a request in for Jamie Pollard to cancel the @ Toledo game and find a home opponent? Add another $1.5 mil to the other side of the balance sheet.

This. But do you really expect random internet posters to understand economics, math, and public relations all at the same time?!

It's so much easier just to yell "FIRE HIM" over and over as loud as you can.

It's almost like we shouldn't have signed him to a ridiculous 10 year contract after he had minimal success. Someone email Pollard about that.

All the Iowa fans on here were ridiculing us for it at the time. We all shot snarky replies back at them. It really sucks that time has shown that they were right.

I expect our AD to provide more than just "Gameday Experience" when purchasing season football tickets.

1 win at home per year isn't going to suffice.

I've said it before and I'll say it again; Pollard is here for at least another decade and he wants nothing more than CPR to be here with him. Like it or not, CPR has at least 2 (probably 3) more full years - next year is hardly the make or break people are expecting.

JP is loyal to a fault (just like CPR) and by getting creative as he has with contracts, he has no desire to make a change.

the part that really gets me is JPs acknowledgement that we have to be innovative on the field but we all know we have done nothing creative or different in any way.

UNI and Iowa are guaranteed sell outs.

Don't forget people will come to games just to experience the SEZ.

People will come to experience the SEZ, but instead of buying 4 season tickets to do that I might just buy a single game or two.

Maybe I'm being overly pessimistic but I have never in CPR's time here felt this way looking at the next year. Even last year I knew I would buy tickets again. Im trying to talk myself into tickets for next year but I honestly cant find a reason why I would, other than Im a terrible horrible person that could never call myself a fan if I don't.
