Well, for starters, there is no "small forward" position in Fred's offense.

And if there were, McKay wouldn't be playing it.

Also, Naz will get some minutes there as well, when we go with more of a 3-guard offense.

Jameel definitely isn't competing for the SF position like they said. Hogue and Nader are 3/4 and Georges and Jameel are 4/5's with Jameel stressing the 5.

Man, isn't it cool to be discussed among the top programs in the country?

Is this true:

"....but McKay, a former Marquette recruit and Hogue’s former junior college teammate, has been a terror in practices for the last six months. ..."

I really hope Dustin can improve his jumper from outside. Otherwise it might be tough to find a lot minutes when McKay becomes eligible.

i think at this point we can all assume that when espn writers are struggling with players to fit into their articles, they just say &*%^ it, let's just put some iowa state players in there, that'll be close enough.

If the Dustin that played in MSG is playing, he will have all the minutes he wants on any team.

agree completely. Dustin isn't expected to be a jumper guy. He's a paint player first.

If someone isn't excited to see Hogue on the floor after what he did at MSG, there's no hope for you.

The article correctly describes him as an undersized power forward ... but doesn't mention his slick reverse moves.

This is dumb. Hogue defensive versatility and rebounding will get him at least 25+ minutes a game, and that's if he doesn't score at all.

You're right, someone like Dustin who has proven he is far more than capable and started every game last season is going to lose his minutes to someone who hasn't played a single minute of DI college basketball. We know McKay is talented, but its stupid to assume that someone who basically averaged a double double in the big 12 is going to regress and find himself on the bench. Idiotic.

To be fair, more talent means less minutes for nearly everyone. Our frontcourt could be upgraded so it could eat some Hogue minutes. Certainly not many though.

If fred wants to go with a true "5" then you will probably see a lot of dustin and mckay on the floor at the same time with dustin playing more of a 3. In freds system though you just never know what lineup he might throw out there. Definitely more options than ever before.
