Because we have good seasons in basketball despite injuries?

Fact of the matter is that we haven't really had any injuries in basketball. That is why we've been able to have good seasons.

Do you like our chances against Michigan better with Ejim in the lineup? I do. Do you think we win the OSU game with Babb playing? I do.

Our offensive players don't suck. Put Mike Leach in charge of our offense with these SAME players and we are a totally different team. I firmly believe that.

I know people don't want to hear about injuries as an excuse, but trust me... after we lose a 3 point game to Michigan in Hilton, Ejim's injury will be a big topic on this board.

When we lost to OSU in the tourney last year, nobody had a problem at all saying Babb's injury played a huge role in the second half. Why do injuries matter in basketball but get totally dismissed as excuses in football?

One injury in basketball is 20% of your team so that injury has significantly more impact. However, I've never seen injuries discounted in football. TCU is a shell of the team they were expected to be this year due to injuries and players quitting. Their offense was and has been embarrassingly bad this year, and Casey P. isn't going to change that fact. He's not a good qb. There isn't a good QB out of Petty in the Big 12. ISU just isn't a good team.

The only time you hear positives coming out of the fanbase is when we ignore who we're playing. We beat Tulsa and looked good doing it. Fans start thinking we turned the corner. Well Tulsa is one of the worst teams in college football this year. We should look good against them playing our second team. We look good on offense against Texas so we "know" we've got the horses to compete in the Big 12. Texas is a TERRIBLE defensive team. Our defense looks pretty good against TCU. TCU's offense is pathetic. I expect ISU's defense to be competitive against Oklahoma because they don't have a qb that can complete a forward pass. They'll try to bully ISU with their stupid belldozer crap, but we'll defend it well like we have in the past.

There actually were some positives from this game. OL looked a little better. The defense for the most part was really good. Coe had a great game. So did George. Washington played his rear end off too I thought.

I do think we need to stick with Rhoads, only because I'm not sure we can do any better. My question though is, do we really trust Rhoads, a defensive guy, to be able to hire the right OC? I think he should get some advice from someone that knows offense, like maybe Sage or something?

Totally agree clonedude. Not to say he's arrogant or anything, but I would hope that CPR would be humbled a bit by the whole Herman/Mess thing. I am hoping he realizes that he needs to be a defense/special teams guy and hire the OC that will tell him to EABOD when he gets too involved in the offense.

That's fine. But i'm not talking about ONE injury. Of our two-deeps coming out of fall camp, we have lost the following guys for at least one game... from memory...

Farniok
Dika
Gannon
Burton
Tuftee
Lalk
Watson
Wimberly
Sam Richardson (qb)
West
Willie Scott
Knott
Bruns

That is over HALF of the guys listed in the two deep at the end of fall camp. To discount this as a non-factor in why our record is what it is makes no sense. It's not the ONLY reason, but it is also a significant factor.

Edit to add... You only get 12 games in a football regular season as opposed to 30+ in basketball.

We can blame injuries all day on the offensive line but we have absolutely no threat at quarterback. Johnny Manziel would have us at at least .500 with this team.

Easy answer. 10-12 man roster vs. and 85-100 man roster. Losing a starter in basketball is exponentially worse than losing a couple of guys in football. In football you "should" be able to plug the next guy in because you have 4-5 options at every position. If you can't, that leads the conversation directly to the deficiency in coaching, teaching, and preparation.

Positives: defensive line was solid much of the game. Coe was unblockable and Morrissey has a hell of a motor. Jevohn Miller played his best game, he was terrible against UNI and I think he knows that, glad to see him succeed.

Things that I want to see improve: defensive backs need to snap their heads around. If they could do that at all we stop a couple big drives and we maybe get a couple picks. Beyond that the offense was just awful at times. We had 17 points and 14 of those more or less came from special teams.

I think Rhoads is definitely the guy as head coach. Wally is a very good DC despite what some on here tend to believe. Some changes in the offensive coaching staff will really be helpful next year, IMO.
