I normally don't say much, but it has possibly cost us a recruit (mister) so yeah it needs to happen soon.

Usually the Assistant Head coach is a non-coordinator coach and I think it is presumed that Shane is the heir to the DC once Wally decides to retire. The Assistant Head Coach title I think will be used to entice K or Sturdy to stick around if they are not the new OC. Or it could be used to hire a higher profile outside non-OC coach to come here with K or Sturdy being the OC.

It will be interesting to see how this all plays out. I just hope we aren't doing the same thing on the defensive side of the ball next year.

I'd bet it will be happening somewhat soon. Maybe not 3 positions but some sort of search will happen.

Louisville's oc? Just kidding.
I know you were just kidding- but if in fact that all of the rumors are true about Strong going to Texas, Shawn Watson it NOT the guy we want. He ran Nebraska's offense in the ground before he was fired and went to Louisville. The only reason he has succeeded at Louisville is because he has had the No. 1 qb in the upcoming NFL draft.

ANY Big 12 OC job is a HUGE step up from ANY non-BCS school's correlating staff position. Its laughable to assert otherwise and shows that the poster is either a Hawk fan, or simply trying to be provocative for some childish purpose. UCF having a couple of good years as a lower level program is great but does nothing to change that dynamic. That said, I think its got potential to be a BCS level program...some day in the distant future. But it is currently in the little leagues, not so much elevated above 1AA school for the most part...the only difference being that they can parlay a perfect season into a BCS bowl once a century. ISU's program is vastly superior to any non-BCS school and is rapidly improving with its increasing revenues (see the new football facility and stadium expansion). OC's at ISU can parly their performance into similar positions at elite schools like Ohio State...and into nice head coaching positions at other Division 1 schools. And that is what most ambitious coaches are striving for in the long run.

UCF is at least a decade away from any invites to "Big Boy" conferences, and even that is iffy. Until it does elevate, it will remain a distant second to ISU's athletics and programs...in terms of salary, prestige, and every other factor related to Division 1 football.

Those count for something in my book!

On another note, after watching a bunch of bowl games it really strikes me how much work the next OC and staff have to do with fundamentals. For example, these successful winning teams have receivers that can block down field. Just amazing how many nothing plays turn into something out in space as WR hold blocks clear down field. Our guys didn't do nearly enough of that.

We have to improve in so many areas. And recruit better. The best OC in the country couldn't turn things around in one year here.

I fully believe the new OC has been hired and at this point is filling the other 2 positions. We will know all the hires at one time.
