I cannot get anyone to like my idea. Go to Bill Gates and ask for money. tell him he would be nothing without ISU. Also, for enough money agree to name anything he wants after him. Only half kidding.

I don't see why you'd be kidding at all with this post. No stone should be left unturned in ISU's quest for more funding and donations.

If only those guys who invented the first computer at Iowa State saw market value in it, other than just an experiment..

This! I think about that all of the time.

Or if we could have some how leveraged part of the Manhattan Project we could have just bombed the competition off the field.

We have another top 5 guy at BA as well. Can't remember his name off the top of my head, but I think he runs the defense business.

I think if I remember correctly from my time there, there were like 7 in the top 20 positions. And Mullenburg was CEO of Defense for a few years until he became COO of everything.

None of this can be accurate. I've read countless times on this board that we don't have the wealthy alums that other schools do because we are an engineering school. Now you want to tell me that we have had guys in the CEO office at two of the biggest aerospace companies on earth within the last 10 years? (Vance was CEO at Lockheed from 99-05, and did some time as President and as COO for many years prior). Not bad for one little department in the College of Engineering.

I thought I remembered back in the 80's or so the Boeing CEO was an ISU grad also.

T. Wilson was CEO during the B-52 and 747 development. He was an ISC grad, with advanced degree from MIT if I remember correctly. Boeing is loaded with ISU people. They recruit primarily from ISU, UW, tOSU and UMich. I worked there for 12 years following an Air Force career.
