It's not even the last couple possessions....it's the whole game.

All we do is that ball screen on top and nobody else moves. It's what everyone else does that can't think of anything else to do offensively. Matt Thomas...well, let's just say he has had better nights. Might need to cut his minutes back some. Naz just hasn't been the same since the injury, maybe just some rust to kick off yet. Nobody moves, everyone just wants to chuck jumpers, we let every decent team dictate how they want to play every time out. Just amazed we came out and played the exact same way the second half as we did the first.

Defense is great, happy to see that, but if we have to score at a very very high level to win games in this league with this lineup. Just the way it has to be, not going to beat anyone like that.

I was really unimpressed with Cincinnati as well, zero reason they should come into Hilton, score 55 points and win.

Very early though, a Hoiberg team I wouldn't even think twice about a loss like this early on, now though, offense takes time to gel...not sure we got the coaching talent on the bench to make this work offensively like it needs to playing 4 guards, cause you going to get out rebounded every night and you aren't going to be able to stop everything as small as we are. Time will tell. Going to take a lot more creativity than I have seen since Steve came here.

Problem is, now you already have a really questionable home loss. And hard to see us beating KU as small as we are. Road games going to be really tough shooting so many jumpers, getting out rebounded and as unphysical as we are. Everyone going to do the same thing.....make us play slow, hammer us on the boards, and force us to shoot a ton of jumpers.

Turrible matchup, unable to force turnovers at stretches, thin in the post, shot poorly because a combination of all. They will get better... NEXT!

Can I make a Georges Niang appreciation thread now?

A player has to be out of eligibility for at least two years before everyone can pretend like they are the ones capable of accurately altering reality by taking a basketball player that can't play for a team and projecting outcomes based on their interpretation of how said team would perform if said imaginary player were on said team.

I'm over it. Pretty clear we don't have the team even with a ton of seniors that is going to do anything particularly special. We're not winning the conference, I don't see having a top 4 seed....

Just don't lose to Iowa.

That was not a really good team. I've seen this offense. This is McDermott 2.0 right now.

Come down from the ledge, son. Cincinnati is picked to win their conference. Honestly, we made some bad plays and got some bad calls down the stretch. Not the end of the world. They'll be working on their issues and will find a way to correct them. If you told me at the start of the season that our defense would be carrying us, I would have said you're high. That said, time to work on the offense Coach.

Gunner....I respect your opinion on this forum but Cincy is a 7-10 seed in the NCAA tournament at best. We are extremely limited offensively and I think we will need to see more Donovan Jackson in the next few weeks to take more of the playing time load off of Monte and Naz. Not sure why we are consistently going to pick and roll with Bowie when he isn't a threat to pick and pop.

So are we give or take a couple on the upside and maybe 1 on the downside. The difference between a 5 to 7 to 9 can be a one game jump. I never understand the insane ramp up of expectations right before a season.

This game was lost in the first half. Cinci played awful for most of the first 20 minutes and we had a chance to run them out of the gym - all we had to do was play decent. Not great, just average. Instead, we go into the half down one.

Cinci didn't play all that well in the second half either, but they played better. We still could have won and we blew it.

I have a feeling this will be a bad loss at the end of the season.

Boy, I could make an ass load of money after a bad game on here.

brass tax is this team should have beaten Cincy going away. my feeling all game was we were a better team that kept letting them hang around by playing their game and taking poor shots.

We are more limited offensively thus should value each possession more. Why do think Prohm put such an emphasis on defense? Because he knew this teams limitations.

With this offense, Iowa has a shot at home to beat us I'm afraid. If we aren't shooting it well, it will be a dogfight to the end.

Matt had a very good night overall. Just a few bad plays (and he made up for one with hustle on the next possession).

I think the main problem with everyone is ball movement and lack of sets.
