SO to all you screaming that McD get fired after we were blown out...Should he get a raise for blowing someone out? It works both ways right? It's only logical.

If he blew out the same number of teams that blew us out, no one would be disappointed. Good win, but we're still 2-7.

Wasn't that team the year of BAM (Baugh, Alexander, Mack) that went to complete crap? I was at ISU at the time but don't remember who was on the team at the time. Freddy came later.

No 87-88 was Grayer, Thompkins, Rhodes, Robinson, et al. I checked...they peaked at #10 on January 23, 1988 and commenced to lose 7 straight on that evening...at MU, at a ranked OU, at home against a ranked OU, at K-State in OT, against Okie St at home in OT, at CU, and at KU.

You should all remember that the Big 8 was a killer conference that year...the National Championship game was OU v. KU.

Well Im not and I thought he was implying that I was. Im sensitive this morning. I need my coffee.

I wasn't implicating anybody in particular. I don't keep track of who posts what unless it's mean or stupid. OK, I admit it, I have a long list.

I am just glad that we aren't last in the conference anymore, that is one step better than our past football season, which the two seasons were looking way too similar. Hopefully our team realizes that they can all score if they try, and we have way better outcomes when CB has some help. Of course holding the other team to 9 points with one score helps also.
Great win, I was starting to forget what winning was like.

Watched the womans game afterwards, the out come wasn't as good, but we had chances to beat the #2 team on the road, which says a lot for the woman's team.

And another team in the state lost so all and all a fun night of basketball.

Hey, I'm happy we finally won another Big 12 game but I'm not sure we can define it as a "big win"...just my personal opinion.

A "big win" as in a much needed boost to the team's confidence. Had we lost, things would have gotten very ugly around here(not that it hasn't already this season...).

But as in a win non-Cyclone fans care about, then no. It's just the second (or third) worst team destroying the worst team.

Are some of you on bad pharmacueticals? WOW! Do you want a coach that really coaches (all aspects of the college game), or someone like Wayne Morgan? Do you not remember how bad our academics were? Please join reality sometime!

Academics? Huh? I believe we lost 1 player in 3 years to academics under Morgan (Robert Faulkner). That is the same number we have lost under Gmac (Mike Taylor). And probably. less than we generally lost under Floyd and Eustachy.

Please join reality sometime. There is no need to resort to blatant revisionist history about the Wayne Morgan years to justify supporting our current coach.

The 7 game losing streak is largely attributed to Thompkins coming down with Mono and having no backup PG to fill his shoes adequately.

Mike Taylor was not an academic casualty and was asked to leave by Mac for disciplinary issues.

Really? Do you think? The disciplinary issues he was kicked off the team for were skipping and flunking his classes.

You just have to read between the lines a little bit. Our top scorer was kicked off the team a month before the season started for discipline related to academic issues... i.e. he wasn't going to be eligible anyway.

Regardless, the original poster ranting about our poor academics under Morgan was incorrect.

MT was kicked off the team for stealing cough medicine. He was however in hot water with his grades.

No he wasn't. Taylor was caught stealing cough medicine several months before he was kicked off the team. Gmac took him back under a tight leash, he screwed up his summer school classes, and he was gone.

I remember the summer school slip-up. It wasn't clear if he failed a summer class or he wasn't going, but either way it seemed academic related IMO. You are correct.

I thought the order was in reverse of that...oh well.

No I thought the second event was puching a hole in a wall at a party or something and then the cough medicine was a second event. Ether way, don't go throwing around academic failure during Mac's tenure because it has not happened period. You can't show a paper otherwise, so why are you being so insistent on something RUMORED.

He wasn't going. Just refused to get it through his head...

Sucks too. He was/is a baller. We needed him. I really liked watching Mike play.

I have to laugh at your angry defensiveness. There is nobody hear blaming Taylor's problems on Gmac, so you can untwist your undies and relax. The 3rd event was academically related, as Taylor screwed up summer school. If you have any ability to read between the lines, you can see it is a pretty good bet that our suspended returning MVP who couldn't make it through summer school (AND was suspended in the first semester for academics) probably wasn't going to be eligible. If not, it doesn't matter anyways, but I had to correct the poster who claimed he was kicked off the team for stealing cough syrup, which was not true.

That wasn't even the point of my post in the first place. The point was to point out how wrong the poster was who claimed we had horrible academics under Morgan.... we lost one player in 3 years to academics, and it was in his 1st semester here. That is a pretty dang good track record, much better than the Eustachy days. Just clearing up more crazy revisionist history about the Morgan years.

Scooter Barry vs. Mookie Blaylock, Stacey King vs. Danny Manning. Those were some fun teams to watch.

Larry Brown wins his National Championship, and he's off to the Spurs.
